In this exercise,
We'll be working to help you learn from your inner guide.
This process can help you understand yourself better and learn how to better take care of yourself.
The inner guide often serves to remind us of insights and understandings forgotten or what might be important or valuable to us.
Sit or lie in a comfortable position.
Now allow your awareness to move to your breath.
Breathing in,
Feeling calm.
Breathing out at peace,
You are preparing to go on a mental journey.
Start to imagine yourself in a very special place.
It could be a real place,
A place you've been,
A beautiful spot in nature.
It could be an imaginary place,
A place in a fairy tale.
If more than one place comes to mind,
Allow yourself to just choose one and stay there.
The only thing that matters is that in this place you feel comfortable and safe.
Appreciate the scene with all your senses.
Hear the sounds,
Smell the aromas,
Feel the air as it crosses your skin.
Experience the ground securely under you.
Touch and feel the whole environment that you're in.
Notice what time of year it is,
What time of day.
Notice the colors that are around you and the temperature.
Is it warm or cool?
What are the qualities of this place that make it safe and comfortable for you?
And where in your body do you experience that?
Begin to look around to notice if there's anything else that would make this place safer for you.
Perhaps something that you need to remove from the place or something you need to bring in.
And notice how your body feels in this place.
Now looking into the distance,
You notice a shape or form slowly moving towards you.
There's nothing threatening about this experience as you're feeling safe and comfortable.
Begin to picture a wise being who will greet you.
Maybe a man or a woman,
A child or an animal,
A color,
A presence,
Or perhaps a feeling.
Accept whatever comes.
Notice how their energy feels to you.
If this person or creature's presence makes you feel warm,
Comfortable,
And safe,
You know it's your inner guide,
Your wiser self,
Your spirit guide,
Whatever name feels right for you.
And as this being or presence approaches,
Greet it and make contact with it in any way that feels right.
This can be through words,
By thoughts,
Or touch.
Take some time to get comfortable in its presence.
Does it have a name?
Perhaps give your wise being a voice.
Know that this wise being is here to help you and serve you.
This wise being might have a message for you,
And if so,
You can listen to that message.
Or if there's something you want to ask,
Your wise being might have a gift for you,
And if so,
You can accept that gift.
Now take a few breaths in the presence of your wise being.
In a moment,
You'll be saying goodbye,
But begin to give it thanks,
Knowing you can return anytime you need to.
Begin to allow this image to fade off into the distance.
When you're ready,
At your own pace,
Let your breath deepen,
Gently allowing the eyes to open,
Knowing you can connect to that inner guide whenever you need to.
