A big factor in health span and longevity is to be positive and optimistic about the future and to be able to see your future as a healthy one.

Today we're going to do some time travel to help you visualize many decades of healthy living ahead of you.

Get into a position that's comfortable for you.

Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.

Relax and clear your mind to prepare for a journey through time.

Let's start with your 65th birthday.

If you've already celebrated it,

Remember how it went.

If it's still in front of you,

Let's imagine it now.

Look around you.

What do you see?

Who has joined you for your party?

Don't worry about how they could get there.

Just trust that they do.

Smile at them and see all those people smiling back at you.

Listen.

Is there music?

The murmur of people talking?

Smell the air.

Is there special food?

Is there a cake?

Are there any special decorations in the room to celebrate you and your big day?

Walk over to the window.

What's the view from this room?

Are you at your house or somewhere else to celebrate?

What town or city are you in?

Have you traveled somewhere special for this celebration?

Now think about what did you do before the party?

Did you go for a walk,

A swim,

A run,

A bike ride that morning?

Feel exactly how it feels in your body to be a super energetic and healthy 65 year old.

What are you looking forward to in the next 15 years or so?

What new things would you like to learn?

Take a minute to visualize what you could do with unlimited time and income at your disposal between the years of 65 and 80 since you've taken care of your physical and financial health.

Now let's go to your 80th birthday.

It's a big deal and lots of people have come to celebrate with you.

Look around.

Who and what do you see?

Who has joined you for your party?

What messages are they sharing with you?

Is there a video screen with others sharing messages?

Is there a big wrapped present sitting on a table?

What's inside that everyone knew you would enjoy?

Is there a table of food set out for everyone to enjoy?

What does it smell like?

Have a bite of one of your favorite foods and enjoy those flavors.

Listen to the room around you.

Is there music?

The murmur of dozens of people talking?

Walk over to the window.

What's the view from this room?

Is it nighttime or the middle of the day?

Have you traveled somewhere special for this celebration or are you in the town where you live at age 80 and where is that?

What did you do before the party?

Did you go for a walk,

A swim,

A run,

A bike ride that morning?

Take a moment to feel your physical body.

Breathe in deeply and feel how well your lungs are still working.

You saw a doctor earlier in the week and she congratulated you on your low blood pressure.

You took a treadmill test and she was super happy with your lung capacity and your recovery heart rate.

Looks like your choice of physical activities and strength training through the years are paying off.

With your health still good,

What are you looking forward to in the next 15 years or so?

Let go of anything you think you know now about what it will be like to be 80.

By the time you get there,

Everything will be different.

80 will be the new 60 and you'll have plenty of energy and mental capacity to try new things and learn new things.

What would you like to learn?

Is there a field of study that you want to contribute to?

Is there a musical instrument or other artistic endeavor you would like to take up?

You've invested wisely and have plenty of money to do anything you want.

Would you like to start a foundation and give away money to specific causes?

Take a moment to visualize all the things you could do and experience and contribute to with the wisdom of your first 80 years on this planet.

It's a full and joyous 15 years later and we're celebrating your 95th birthday.

Congratulations!

Don't try to conjure up what anyone you can think of looked like on their 95th birthday.

You will have access to all kinds of supplements and skin treatments and healthy living choices they never had.

Envision instead what you would ideally like to look and feel like at 95,

Knowing you have at least 16 years of living still ahead of you.

95 is the new 70 the expression will go.

Smile at yourself when you catch a reflection in a window and laugh at how young you still look and feel.

As far as you're concerned,

When you wake up in the morning,

You still feel like a 40 year old ready to do anything.

Take in a deep breath and smell the air.

Is there a vase of your favorite flowers?

Does someone bake a special treat for your big day?

Listen,

Is there laughter?

Are there children running around?

Is someone giving a speech in your honor?

Is there a band playing your favorite songs from all the decades?

What song will get you out on the dance floor?

Breathe deeply and feel how well your lungs and heart are working.

You have treated your body well over the years,

Giving it what it needs to be at its healthiest.

You fed it with nutritious foods and you've made sure to move and stretch every day so you still enjoy visiting friends and family,

Volunteering,

Trying new things and traveling to new places.

What have you accomplished in the last 15 years?

What sports and games do you enjoy playing?

Are there paintings or photographs you've created on the walls?

Medals from the triathlons and half marathons you've been participating in?

Have you written a book or series of books?

Are you on the board of a nonprofit that you care about?

How did you help them with the big fundraiser earlier this year?

Take a minute to experience how good it feels to be vibrant as a 95-year-old.

Think about what you're looking forward to in the next 15 or so years.

What new things would you like to learn?

What places would you like to travel to for the first time?

Or make a return visit,

Especially now that jets run on clean energy?

Any interest in a trip to the moon?

What impact would you like to have on the lives of others?

What pet cause could you devote time and energy to without any of the distractions and demands of your younger years?

Take a minute to think about your answers.

It's here!

It's your 111th birthday!

Congratulations!

Happy Birthday!

Look around you.

What do you see?

Who is here?

What words of celebration are they sharing to celebrate here with you today?

Who is giving you a hug?

Is there a new generation in your family that is now part of the celebration?

Whose hands are you holding?

Feel their love flowing into you.

What does the giant banner in the room say?

What color are the flowers that have been sent to you for this special day?

What is written in the set of cards that line the mantelpiece?

Go look out the window.

What can you see?

Where have you chosen to have this party to celebrate all that you've accomplished?

Have you traveled somewhere special?

Where?

What's the weather today?

When you took a walk or ride on your motorized scooter earlier in the day to think about your long,

Wonderful life,

Where did you go?

What did you see?

Your party is special,

But take a moment to think about a private ceremony you conducted for yourself earlier in the week of your 111th year.

To thank the universe for giving you so many amazing years of life,

And to thank yourself for all the great choices you made,

To keep your body in such good shape for so long,

And to put yourself in a financial position to enjoy your life and have a positive impact on the lives of others,

And to thank your body and mind for all they've done for you and all you did to keep your brain active.

What special spot did you visit to conduct that ceremony?

Take a moment to think about how you commemorated this incredible moment in your life.

Take one last look around,

Knowing you can revisit this time and place anytime you want.

Take with you the memory of how it felt to be so grateful for all the experiences you have had and the many decades of life that you have been granted.

Now start rewinding to bring yourself back to your younger self here today,

Who also has so much to be grateful for,

To be enjoying the gift of life one day at a time.

Take a moment to reorient yourself to this moment in time.

What choices can you make now at your present age in order to celebrate each of those birthdays you just saw in a healthy body with an active brain,

A giant bank account,

And joy in your heart?

How can you honor your body and mind and life today?

I wish you health,

Joy,

And happiness.

Today happens to be my birthday 😊 so this is as a fun meditation and visualization exercise to do. I’m a few decades younger than 65, so it was nice to think of how I’d like to age and live the rest of my life. I really liked that at the very end we were asked what can we do today that would help us to get to those healthy, fulfilling birthdays of the future. Makes you think abt what is working for you in your life right now and what is perhaps not working for you. Thank you 🙏🏽
