Close your eyes for a moment and just arrive here with me.
Take a slow deep breath in and a slow deep breath out.
Again,
Take a slow deep breath in and a slow deep breath out.
Focus on your body.
Notice where you have been holding tension.
Your jaw,
Your shoulders,
Your back.
A lot of people carry grief without realizing how much of their bodies have been bracing against life ever since.
As if relaxing would somehow make everything fall apart.
You don't have to hold yourself together every second.
But you really don't.
So let your shoulders drop a little.
Your breath deep and naturally.
And listen to the sound of my voice.
You're safe here now.
I want you to think about the grief you've been carrying.
Simply feel it with zero judgment.
What does it actually feel like inside of you?
Maybe it feels hollow,
Heavy,
Sharp,
Numb.
You've been carrying it for so long.
You don't even know who you are without it anymore.
Grief changes us.
Sometimes quietly,
Sometimes completely.
Take a deep breath into that truth.
Now exhale.
Part of healing begins the moment you stop acting like loss didn't affect you.
It did affect you.
And it changed something within as well.
Pretending otherwise only keeps the pain trapped inside your body.
So for right now,
You don't need to minimize what hurts.
You don't need to explain it away.
You don't need to say,
Well,
Other people have it worse.
This hurts you.
And your body knows it.
Your heart knows it.
Take a slow inhale and exhale slowly.
Now,
I want you to imagine sitting across from the version of you who first experienced this loss.
Just picture them for a moment.
Maybe they look exhausted.
Shocked.
Disconnected.
I want you to really look at them.
Because a lot of people abandon themselves to grief.
Everyone checks on the situation.
Everyone talks about what happened.
But almost nobody sits beside the version of themselves who was shattered by it.
So sit with them now.
There is no fixing.
There is no rush.
Simply presence.
Now quietly say to them,
I see what this did to you.
Let those words land.
I see what this did to you.
This version of you has been waiting a long time for someone to acknowledge the truth.
Take another deep breath.
Another deep breath in.
And a slow exhale out.
Now notice what happens inside your chest.
What emotion is raising to the surface?
Maybe your throat tightens.
Tears start to roll down your face.
Or nothing happens at all.
Whatever happens,
It's okay.
There is no right way to grieve.
Some of us cry loudly.
Go numb.
Become productive.
Disappear emotionally for years.
Grief wears a different face.
But underneath it all,
There's usually love.
That's what makes grief so painful.
Love had nowhere to go.
Become aware that grief is not weakness.
The ability to feel deeply is not a weakness.
The fact that someone touched your heart enough to leave and ache behind,
That's part of being human.
Breathe that in for a moment.
You loved.
You cared.
It all mattered.
Now,
I want you to imagine all the grief you've been through.
All the pain you've been carrying.
Like a weight in your body.
Heavy stones in your chest.
In your stomach.
On your back.
Feel how exhausting it's been carrying all of that alone.
And now imagine setting it all down.
Go ahead.
Set it down for a moment.
You were never meant to carry this by yourself forever.
Take a deep breath in.
And a slow exhale out.
Now listen carefully to this part.
Healing isn't forgetting.
Healing doesn't mean the loss is suddenly okay.
Healing means your heart slowly learns how to hold the pain without drowning in it.
That's the difference.
Maybe part of you has been afraid to heal.
Because sometimes people unconsciously believe that it's not worth it.
That if they stop hurting,
They stop loving or remembering.
But love doesn't disappear because suffering softens.
That is not the way this works.
What was real remains real.
Take another deep breath in.
And a slow exhale out.
Imagine for a moment warmth spreading through your chest.
Slow,
Soft,
Gentle.
And let that warmth move towards every part of you that has felt alone in this grief.
The tired parts.
The angry parts.
The lost part.
The parts that is still waiting for life to feel normal again.
Let the warm reach every part.
And now for the first time in a while,
Allow yourself to admit this has been hard.
Sometimes the strongest thing a person can do is to tell the truth about what they've been carrying.
Take a breath.
Slow inhale.
Slow exhale.
Now I invite you to feel the space around your pain.
Notice I didn't say the pain disappeared.
Because there's space around it now.
And that matters because healing usually doesn't happen all at once.
It happens in tiny moments.
Tiny moments where your body realizes I don't have to stay in survival mode forever.
And little by little life begins returning.
A deep,
Honest,
And real version of you.
Now place your hand over your heart.
And just sit with yourself for a moment.
You survived something painful.
And you are still here.
Still breathing.
Still becoming.
Take one final deep breath in.
Hold it gently.
And let it go.
And when you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes and carry yourself a little softer.
After today.
