Welcome,

And so this is a children's story that I wrote for my daughter some time ago.

And so get your little ones and then settle them on your lap or have them tucked in bed and allow them to enjoy and listen.

This is titled Your Sun Will Rise.

The wise earth yawned one early morning.

She was glad that the day before had ended well.

Yes,

She thought,

Still yawning.

Yesterday went quite well.

I rotated as usual around the sun.

Wise earth then shook her body so that the leaves,

Rocks,

And the seas she housed would wake up as well.

They were all her children,

Including the humans.

Wise earth knew she loved them well.

It's going to be a beautiful day,

She smiled.

She glanced at the sky around her as this was her daily tradition.

And then her smile froze.

What is this,

She asked herself.

Why is everywhere this dim?

She glanced to the east to make sure she wasn't still dreaming.

Again,

The sky was the same.

She did the same to the west.

And that was the same.

Even the north and the south had this atmosphere in total dimness.

What could have happened,

She asked in dismay.

The wise earth was now worried.

She actually believed the day was going to be great.

To make things worse,

She started to notice something different about herself.

Didn't I shake myself to wake up my children,

She asked herself.

But the seas were not awake yet.

The large body and small body of water everywhere on the wise earth were as still as a corpse.

What has gone wrong,

The wise earth continued to wonder.

The leaves on her trees were not rustling.

She knew because they were no longer singing lovely tunes as they did into her ears.

The wind has stopped blowing too.

And the temperature is still the same as I left it the night before,

Wise earth exclaimed.

She was now speechless and didn't know exactly what was wrong.

At least she was sure of two things.

One was that she wasn't rotating around the sun.

And two for any heavenly body for that matter.

This has never happened to me before,

The wise earth cried.

Then wise earth concluded the sun was nowhere to be found to.

Where could he be,

The wise earth pondered thinking aloud.

Everything would fall out of order if the sun doesn't rise.

The wise earth knew what she had to do.

My children,

She said,

I have to look out for them.

Of course,

If the sun would not rise,

How can all the wise earth's children survive?

Plants need the sun for photosynthesis.

If the plants don't grow,

The small animals won't have anything to eat to survive.

And the big animals will starve too.

And if the plants and animals die,

What will her dear humans eat?

They need the sun for their daily activities.

Even the vitamin D from the sun nourishes the skin of humans.

Humans need the sun for electricity and energy.

Even the light from the sun helps them to go about their daily business with ease during the day.

Wise earth sighed heavily as she thought about all these.

Now I can't rotate too,

She thought.

She knew this was a big problem as well.

If the wise earth does not rotate,

The seasons would never change.

Her children would no longer enjoy the shift from spring to summer.

And from summer to autumn,

The temperature would forever remain the same too.

For there would no longer be the change to cold and warm temperature.

The night and day won't interchange anymore too.

It was why everywhere was so dim,

Since wise earth had not rotated since last night.

Oh goodness,

I had better do something fast,

Wise earth resolved.

She nodded.

She needed someone,

A human,

To become the one to save the rest of her children.

That human would be her secret messenger.

Yes,

She will be the hero that would find out why the sun did not rise,

Wise earth resolved.

The human should have the force of nature so strong in her.

She should be honest and contented with her life too.

But where is such a being among the humans,

Wise earth asked aloud?

She closed her eyes and counted from ten to one.

It was how she was able to calm herself and connect to the very core of her being.

Ten,

She counted.

Right now she wanted to concentrate on all the forces that existed so the wise earth could single out her hero out of the crowd of humans.

Nine,

She counted.

Wise earth checked the forest trees and the tall mountains.

Eight,

She counted.

Wise earth focused on the deep and wide body of water,

The seas and the oceans.

Seven,

She counted.

Wise earth moved on to examine the fields of green grasses and beautiful flowers.

Six,

She counted.

Wise earth began to check every home on the streets.

Five,

She counted.

Wise earth saw a family still asleep.

Despite the ceaseless morning crow of the cock.

Four,

She counted.

Wise earth saw some children staring at the clouds,

Surprised by the unchanging dimness in the sky.

Three,

She counted.

Wise earth saw a woman in a sitting position.

Humming peacefully to the peaceful nature that surrounded her.

Two,

She counted.

Wise earth was sure that she knew the woman that she saw.

She was honest.

She is kind to the nature that surrounds her by tending to the flowers and watering her garden.

She is even compassionate to other humans that relate to her,

The wise earth retorted.

One,

She completed her count.

The force is strong with this one,

Wise earth resolved.

She opened her eyes and was glad with the human she had come up with.

She smiled with contentment.

She was such a woman with good intention and character.

I'm going to send her to the past to know what happened to the sun yesterday,

Wise earth thought to herself.

Perhaps it wasn't too late for the day to be great as wise earth wanted it to be.

Wise earth reached out to her hero a few seconds later.

She was still in her sitting position but she stopped humming as she heard wise earth's soft whisper.

My child,

Wise earth called.

I am here,

Wise earth,

Her hero answered.

She was all smiles and looked happy to be called out by the wise earth.

It is nice of you to seek me out,

Wise earth.

I was just almost through with my daily yoga.

I'm having to cut it short for you,

Wise earth teased.

She knew her messenger wouldn't mind.

Oh no,

You shouldn't mind.

Yesterday's yoga is done to have a deeper connection with her essence in the first place,

The hero explained.

Wise earth smiled at her modestly and reiterated to herself that she was the right person for the mission.

I sought you out because the sun did not rise today.

She went straight to the point.

This brought her hero onto her feet immediately.

What would you have me do,

Her hero asked attentively.

I am the wise earth.

I can not only still the time but I can also reverse it,

Wise earth began.

Her hero only listened on attentively,

Making wise earth more proud of her.

I will reverse the time back some few hours and have you ponder with the moon and the sun so we can know what went wrong,

Wise earth explained.

Am I ready for this,

The hero thought silently to herself.

Wise earth knew it was usual for her children to sometimes doubt themselves.

So she wanted to encourage her hero to be steadfast and continue to be contented and proud of herself.

I shall call you messenger henceforth my hero.

You will save the rest of my children from this unknown plight,

She told her.

These encouraging words made messenger smile.

She brought out her chest and accepted the task that was given to her.

What should I do,

She asked.

Wise earth connected with her mind and then showed her a location like a flash.

Messenger could see the tallest mountain in the world in her head.

Mount Everest,

She asked.

This is where you shall begin your journey back to the past.

And that is where you shall end it,

Wise earth told her.

The messenger looked confused but she had full trust in wise earth.

I shall pack my things and climb the mountain,

She iterated.

Wise earth was happy.

Things were going to be alright soon,

Soon the sun would be back in the sky and she would dance and rotate happily.

She trusted the messenger with all her essence.

When the messenger finally was up the mountain she was tired.

She hadn't heard from wise earth since she started climbing but she knew wise earth was with her.

She could feel her encouragement as she took every step.

She was at the peak of the mountain and now she needed wise earth.

What should I do,

She silently whispered to herself.

Then suddenly she felt that she needed to calm.

Luckily this was one of those things she knew how to do easily.

The messenger had great knowledge of the yoga so she knelt and closed her eyes.

Soon she was drifting into time and past.

The wind around her changed first then the temperature too.

I have just reversed the time to some hours ago for you,

Dear messenger.

It was wise earth,

She was back.

Thank you,

The messenger said.

She could feel as if everything about her was different.

Now try to connect with the sun,

Wise earth instructed.

Feel his energy and his essence.

The messenger connected more to nature around her.

Soon she could see everything in the sky.

She could sense the heavenly bodies.

She could see the stars,

Venus,

Mars,

The moon and the sun.

She opened her eyes with joy.

I know where the sun is,

She screamed.

Concentrate,

Wise earth replied with humor in her voice.

Okay,

Messenger said.

Now tell me everything that happened.

Why isn't the sun up?

The messenger hummed off and began to see everything.

She started the tale about the sun and why he wasn't up.

The sun was in a somber mood.

He wasn't feeling quite well and withdrew himself to a corner in the sky.

I have not felt this unusual before,

He cried.

He sobbed and sobbed.

Yet this didn't make him any better.

He wondered why he was in a somber mood in the first place.

I am not burning as hot as usual,

He said.

But he felt that he was.

He was still sparkling hot with energy.

Though the brightness around him wasn't as great as it used to be.

Urgh,

Then why am I somber,

Tired and feeling unwell?

Unable to answer the questions that bothered him,

Sun sniffed and withdrew again.

He felt that he should at least rise,

But doing so had no meaning to.

Why,

He cried again.

The sun continued with this silently,

Refusing to rise at every passing minute.

Just then,

A neighbor in the sky,

One beautiful sparkling young star walked by.

She was young and agile.

She also had a strawberry lollipop in her hand.

She saw the sun,

Where he wasn't looking too bright for color,

And walked towards him.

She kicked the sun playfully.

Hey,

Sun,

Why aren't you up?

She asked.

The sun said nothing,

But looked up with gloom boldly written on his face.

What is wrong?

Why haven't you risen for the earth?

Young star asked.

I'm having a bad day,

The sun finally said.

Surprisingly,

Young star dropped a lollipop in her hand.

She seemed to be in the same mood with the sun.

She sits in pity with the sun and says,

Me too.

So there they were,

Two heavenly bodies,

Feeling somber,

Without even knowing why.

The sun continued to lose its brightness while the young star watched on sadly.

How will the sun rise again for wise earth's children?

The sun continued to lose its brightness while the young star watched on in sadness.

The messenger looked at both the young star and the sun as they sobbed.

She turned around and thought to herself.

She remembered being unhappy for no reason a long time ago.

But what did she do to make herself better?

The messenger thought about her friends,

Her garden,

And all the things that make her happy.

She looked at the young star and the sun.

Excuse me,

She said in a very low voice.

The messenger cleared her throat.

I might have to be louder,

She thought to herself.

Excuse me.

The sun and the young star turned around and looked at the tiny little human that seemed to have said something.

Yes,

Replied the young star.

I'm sorry to interrupt.

I didn't mean to be rude.

I've noticed you are sad,

The messenger said.

Is there anything I can help to do?

The young star became bright,

Came to life.

She looked at the sun and then back at the messenger.

And with a swift move,

She came closer to the mountain.

Actually yes,

See my friend is sad and looking at him so dull made me sad too.

Oh,

The messenger said with a finger on her cheek.

Well when I get sad,

What I usually do is stretch my arms real high like this.

The messenger stretched her arms high as the sky.

And then I touched the points of my toes,

My nose close to my knees.

The messenger bended and touched her nose with her knees.

The young star laughed at the position of her new friend.

She looked like a snake all tangled.

The sun turned around only slightly to see what was going on.

Look son,

She is touching her nose with her knees,

The young star laughed.

The messenger stood up and looked at the sun.

He rapidly turned around.

Hmm,

Thought the messenger.

Maybe,

Just maybe,

If I monkey around enough,

I can get the sun to smile.

Maybe even brighten up a bit.

You want to know what I do next on a gloomy day,

Said the messenger.

The young star nodded.

I practice my chanting.

The messenger took one big gulp of air into her lungs and released a noise that trembled through the mountains.

The young star practiced the chanting herself.

The sun turned around a bit more towards the show the messenger was giving.

What about you young star?

What do you do when you are sad?

The young star took a moment to think.

Excited,

She came closer to the messenger.

Every time I get sad,

I like to buy my favorite candy.

She pulls out her lollipop.

Me too,

Chocolate is my favorite candy.

What about you,

Son?

The son looked at the messenger.

He opened his mouth to say something,

But nothing came out.

That's okay.

There must be other things you like to do when you are sad,

The messenger said.

The young star jumped up and down.

Yes,

Like hanging out with friends,

The messenger nodded.

Dancing.

I do like to dance,

Said the son.

The messenger smiled.

You do?

The son nodded.

I'm pretty sure I packed my radio somewhere.

The messenger opened her backpack and looked inside of it.

Then she pulled out a red radio and turned it on.

The music filled the entire space as the three new friends danced away their sadness.

The messenger moved her arms up and down like a dancing monkey.

The young star swirled left and right,

And the sun shaped his rays away.

This is so much fun,

Said the son.

His brightness increased.

The music stopped.

They look at one another and burst into laughter.

Thank you so much,

Said the son.

As he cleaned his happy tears.

You are welcome.

That's what friends are for,

Said the messenger.

The young star hugged the son and smiled.

But the son's brightness turned dull once more.

What is it?

The messenger was worried.

The son covered his face.

I am so embarrassed.

I let the earth down.

I let the humans down.

The animals.

The oceans.

And the mountains.

Just because I was feeling a bit gloomy.

There is nothing to be ashamed of.

Sometimes we wake up and have bad days,

Said the messenger.

Yes,

It's normal,

Son.

Sometimes you feel sad and you can be sad.

There is nothing wrong with it,

The young star helped.

Exactly.

In crying,

It's also a medicine,

Just like laughter,

The messenger told the son.

Really,

Asked the son.

Of course,

Said the messenger,

With a warm smile on her face.

Just remember to always rise up.

The son and the young star laughed.

With the help of my friends,

The son said smiling.

I think I'm going to return to my place.

To be honest,

I miss seeing the little humans wake up by the song of birds.

The son turned around.

Take you once again,

Little stretchy human.

Bye.

The messenger jumped up and down as she moved her arms and waved goodbye.

How do I get back now,

The messenger thought to herself.

It had been a very long day,

A hard day,

But with a happy ending.

I can take you back.

The voice of Mother Earth whispered in the messenger's ear.

Suddenly the sky turned all sorts of colors,

Blue,

Yellow,

Orange,

And pink.

Time moved fast.

The birds that sing now chirped faster.

The leaves on the trees swing left and right.

Wow,

The messenger got lifted in the air and in a matter of seconds she was back in her garden.

Thank you,

Mother Earth.

The messenger sat down and crossed her legs.

She closed her eyes.

The wind caressed her hair.

Thank you,

My child,

For helping me and all of your fellow brothers and sisters.

The messenger opened her eyes.

She could feel the sun warming her face.

The sun is up.

All around the messenger the plants and flowers opened.

The birds sang and the dogs barked.

The wise Earth looked at her children.

They woke up one by one,

Yawning and greeting the sun.

The wise Earth turned around and looked at her longtime friend,

The sun.

You came back,

She said happily.

Of course I did.

Couldn't miss all your little children waking up,

Could I?

The sun and the wise Earth smiled at each other.

See everything is possible when you have good friends next to you.

The end.

This is for Riley.
