In essence, the Pint Pot Model posits that our mental fitness is dependent on three core factors: biological factors, psychological factors, and social factors. Biological factors include things like our genetics, physical health, and age; psychological factors include our personal beliefs, expectations, or traumatic experiences; and finally, social factors include our relationships, our jobs, and financial situation.

The pintpot model illustrates how a huge array of stressors,

Big or small,

Can slowly fill a pint glass to the point of spilling over.

Spillage leads to a stress reaction and potentially mental illness.

Some of us are born with a pintpot fuller than others,

But the real problem is that none of us knows where that spillage point is until it is too late.

It can also be very hard to predict which factor triggers a spillage.

There are the obvious life-defining events,

But if our pint glass is already brimming,

Even a small misfortune can push us over the edge.

Because of this,

Taking a proactive approach towards mental fitness enables us to increase the size of our pint glass and reduce the risk of trouble along the road.

Prevention is always better than cure.

We can't erase our old scars,

But we can use them to help us grow and improve our resilience and increase the size of our pintpot.

If we care for it,

It will grow like a well-watered plant.

As a result of this technicoloured approach,

There is no magic,

Singular solution that will get you mentally fit.

The goal is to build a personal mental fitness regime through trial and error and embrace the process of discovery.
