Freedom.
I want you and all Americans to realize that you are in charge of your own freedom.
No one else.
Not the President,
Not the Congress,
Not the Supreme Court,
Not even the Constitution can fully give you freedom.
Freedom is an inside job.
Each person herself,
Each person himself doing the work to be free.
Freedom begins with this truth.
You are not your thoughts.
You are not your feelings.
Use the gift of finding out who you are.
This is the key to your happiness,
Fulfillment and freedom.
Too many people are on automatic,
Allowing their thoughts and feelings to be in the driver's seat of their lives.
That is a source of the chaos our country is in.
There is really no chance for life,
Liberty and the pursuit of happiness if people do not first realize they hold the key to setting themselves free.
Perhaps you have often been on an emotional roller coaster,
Your life dictated by your feelings,
Whipsawed,
Whiplashed,
Whip-weary.
It was hard to get your bearings because as soon as you thought you had stability,
Your feelings would change and turn everything upside down.
You felt like that man in the myth of Sisyphus,
Getting that rock all the way to the top of the hill,
Only to see it fall all the way back down again.
A way out of that nightmare is to realize that your thoughts and feelings belong in the back seat,
Not the driver's seat of your life.
They can be along for the ride,
But you are the driver in charge,
Not them.
Set yourself free.
Help others do the same.
Everybody is in your driver's seat.
