If liking yourself feels harder,
And it seems like it should.
I want you to try something with me.
You don't have to convince yourself that you love everything about who you are.
You don't have to suddenly feel confident.
We're just going to practice speaking to ourselves a little differently.
So take a breath.
And repeat after me.
I'm learning to like myself.
I'm learning to speak to myself with more kindness.
I don't have to criticize myself into becoming a better person.
I can notice my imperfections without turning them into evidence that something is wrong with me.
I am allowed to make mistakes.
I am allowed to have regrets.
I am allowed to have parts of myself.
That I'm still working on.
None of those things require me to be cruel to myself.
I can take responsibility without tearing myself apart.
I can grow without hating the person I am today.
And this one may be a little harder.
I don't have to earn the right thing.
To like myself.
I don't have to earn the right.
To like myself.
My worth.
Isn't determined by how productive I am.
Or how successful I am.
Or whether everyone approves of me.
I don't have to become.
Someone else to deserve my own kindness.
Take another breath.
And notice what happens inside you.
When you say these words.
If part of your mind argues with them,
That's okay.
You don't need to argue back.
Practicing.
I'm learning to be on my own side.
I'm learning.
To trust myself.
I'm learning to forgive myself.
I'm learning to enjoy the person I'm becoming.
And finally,
I'm learning to like myself.
You don't have to wake up tomorrow completely loving yourself.
Maybe the practice is much smaller than that.
Maybe today,
You interrupt one cruel thought.
Maybe you stop comparing yourself.
Maybe you forgive one mistake.
Maybe you do one thing simply because it's good for you.
Because the relationship you have with yourself.
Isn't built in one enormous moment.
It's built through thousands of small interactions with yourself.
And every time you choose kindness,
Instead of criticism.
Curiosity.
Instead of judgment.
And compassion instead of punishment.
You're changing that relationship.
One choice.
At a time.
Understand your mind.
Choose your life.
And until next time,
Keep practicing.
Being someone you enjoy coming home to.
