This gentle Internal family systems meditation recognises that different parts of us can have very different feelings about the holiday season. You are invited to gather those parts around a warm, steady fire, welcoming each one just as it is. From a calm, compassionate centre, you offer presence, warmth and listening to our needs, a quiet practice of togetherness, safety, and soft connection during a complex time of year.

Settle into a position that feels kind for your body.

You can curl up,

Move,

Gently rock,

Wiggle your toes or wrap yourself in something soft.

Nothing here requires stillness unless you want to find stillness.

Let your breath settle in its own rhythm.

No need to make it slow or deep unless that feels good.

Just breathe in the way your body chooses.

Imagine a quiet fireside room.

You might see pictures or you might not see anything at all.

You might sense it instead through feelings,

Warmth,

Sound or simply the idea of a room forming without images.

Some people notice colours or shapes.

Some feel a shift in their body.

Some just know the room is there.

Any way of experiencing this space is welcome.

You could imagine soft fairy lights are draped across the mantelpiece glowing warm gold.

Let the glow grow into a fire in the hearth that feels safe.

A hearth that belongs to you.

Nothing here asks anything of you.

Nothing demands.

This place is simply yours.

A space where your nervous system can unwind at its own rhythm.

Take a moment to notice that you are here in this space with a sense of spaciousness that is gentle,

Open and kind.

A steady fire burns gently and evenly,

Giving out warmth that wraps softly around you.

Let the fairy lights glow as if they understand tenderness is needed.

The air feels safe,

Held,

Unhurried.

And when you are ready,

Offer a very soft invitation inside.

If any parts would like to come towards the fire and explore how the holiday season feels for them.

You are welcome here.

Give space.

Let your words settle.

There might be a younger part who remembers holiday lights with a little spark of excitement.

The one who felt wonder in the lights,

The colours,

The stories.

See how they arrive.

Notice their face,

Their energy,

Their hope.

Maybe a part who loved holidays.

You might feel them in your chest or see them clearly or just know they are near.

Sparkling with anticipation,

Small and bright,

Rushing close to the fire.

There might be another younger part holding a memory that still aches.

A part who feared the holiday time.

A part who felt overstimulated,

Too watched,

Too judged,

Or too alone.

The one who braces for sensory overload.

The one who carries memories of confusion or unmet longing.

They might stay further back.

They are also welcome here.

Perhaps there is a part of you who carries the weight of the holidays now.

The one who feels responsibility,

Expectations,

The pressure,

The trying your best for everyone.

The one who feels stretched thin with tiredness.

The ones who are simply exhausted or overwhelmed,

Carrying the weight of demands like a heavy coat.

Notice if they inch closer to the warmth or if they stay standing because sitting feels too much.

And let them sit down without needing to be busy or strong.

Let the weight they carry be seen.

There might also be a protective part watching quietly,

Checking that this fireside really is safe enough for everyone.

Notice their watchfulness without having to ask it to soften.

Just welcoming it here.

And there may be parts with special interests glowing with focus and intensity.

Ready to retreat down into their absorbing rabbit holes.

Seeking time and space on their own.

There may be a part holding regret or grief.

And the one who longs for calm,

For gentleness,

For a sense of belonging or home.

All welcome.

Let them sit where they wish.

Some tucked into corners,

Some wrapped in blankets,

Some hovering near you,

Some leaning towards the fire.

Each part offered a place that suits its energy.

Each one welcome.

Each one allowed to be exactly as they are.

Let your breath open gentle space between each part so no one feels crowded.

And no one has to disappear for another to be seen.

Let the fire glow low and steady as your parts soften in its warmth.

All of them taking their place around the fire,

A circle of truth and warmth.

Then,

Very gently,

You might ask,

Is there a part of me that really needs to be heard?

When you sense a part,

Sit beside them in your imagination.

And you can quietly ask,

What do you need to be heard about the holidays?

Let them show you what the holiday season once felt like for them.

Let them answer in their own way.

Whether a picture,

A body feeling,

A memory,

A phrase,

Silence that carries weight.

You do not need to do anything.

Just hear them.

Let the fire warm the space between you.

Breathe softly into the space between you and them.

You might ask,

Is there anything else you want me to know about what you need now?

Take your time and listen.

And when the moment feels right,

Offer this message from you slowly and softly.

I am listening to every one of you.

I care about what the holiday season feels like for you.

All your feelings matter to me.

The longing,

The excitement,

The fear,

The sadness,

The anxiety,

The memories,

The overwhelm,

And the hopes.

You never have to hide anything here.

You do not need to be still,

Or calm,

Or cheerful.

You can move,

Rest,

Curl up,

Stay exactly where you are.

And I will shape our holidays around what you need,

Not what the world expects,

Not what old memories demand,

Only what feels right for us.

We will move gently.

We will choose what feels kind.

You are not alone with any of this.

I am here with you.

Let that message rest in the warm light of the fire and the soft glow of the room.

Let the fire warm the space with a glow that is neither bright nor too dim,

Just right for everyone.

You can choose a holiday season that fits with your needs now.

A time shaped by truth,

Gentleness,

And choice.

And when you are ready,

Stay quietly inside.

Thank you for showing me what you need.

I am here with you.

None of you are alone.

Take a breath,

Feel into your body,

And come back gently to the room you are in.

Let the fire remain within you as a place you can return to,

A gathering place for every part at any time.
