Lektion 1
Unpacking Stress
In this lesson, we'll discover that stress is a symptom of a fearful response to an event or a thought, which triggers physical, emotional, and mental responses. We will trace the origin of the stress response, in order to understand its purpose, and what happens when the stress response gets stuck "on" instead of resolving on its own.
Lektion 2
The Physical, Emotional, And Mental Impacts Of Stress
In this lesson, we'll discuss the ways in which stress affects our body's systems, our emotions, and refocuses our mental processes for the sake of survival. Understanding the ways in which stress is designed to help us, and how it impacts our functioning can then empower us to mindfully choose stress-relieving tools that work on each specific aspect - physical, emotional and mental.
Lektion 3
The Power Of Attention And Choice Over Stress
In this lesson, you'll be introduced to the concept that just as the stress response engages your attention, so can you deliberately control where your attention goes. Understanding that you have the power to focus your attention on tools that will disengage the stress response means that you can choose which tools will be the most effective on the stress that you are experiencing. A brief example of each is included, with future courses in this series dedicated to specific tools for reversing the stress response to a variety of experiences.
Lektion 4
Releasing Unwanted Stress That We Believe Is Important
In this lesson, we will discuss the stress that feels important, such as the stress of suspense - when we are waiting for test results, or a job offer, for example. Our minds believe that this is a valid reason for stress, though we don't want to feel the stress. It doesn't help us while we are waiting, right? You'll learn a physical-oriented tool that will relax the body, and then the mind and emotions will respond with relaxation, releasing the stress.
Lektion 5
Releasing Stress From Mental Replay
In this lesson, we will address the stress that comes from repeating a stressful memory over and over in the mind. When something stressful happens, it's natural to replay it like a short movie, and re-experience the stress each time. The tool in this lesson will help you use a physical-centered tool to bring a soothing sensation to the body, and then the feeling of being soothed comes into your emotions, and your mind can release the replay process along with the stress over the situation.
Lektion 6
Releasing The Stress Of Not Knowing
In this lesson, we’re going to talk about the stress of not knowing what to do. This is when a decision needs to be made about something, and we feel a sense of panic because we are unclear on what the right decision should be. This is a very mental kind of stress. This stress responds well to physical techniques because they help change the stress-state directly, bypassing the mind and emotions, and then affecting them as the body relaxes.
Lektion 7
The Stress Of Overwhelm
The stress of overwhelm arises when we feel that we have too much to do and are wondering how we'll handle it all. This lesson explains why this type of stress responds well to a mind-oriented tool, and teaches you a fast-acting, simple way to redirect the mind from overwhelm to focus.
Lektion 8
Stress Over Rejection Or Disappointment
In this lesson, we will explore the roots of the feeling of rejection or disappointment, and why this sort of stress responds well to a mental tool, which helps to shift the mind first, then affecting a change in the emotions and body, releasing the stress and bringing forth a state of acceptance. You'll learn a tool you can use to shift from this sort of stress whenever you need to.
Lektion 9
The Stress Of Feeling Not Good Enough
In this lesson, we'll address an all-too-common stressor, the underlying fear of not being good enough. This state is so common, it runs like an underscoring track without stop beneath the surface all the time. We will learn to understand this stressor better, and then try a mind-centered approach to reducing its impact.
Lektion 10
The Stress After Conflict Or Disagreement
In this lesson, we will address the stress that lingers after a conflict or disagreement happens, and you'll learn what tools are useful to help mitigate this kind of stress. You'll be taught a specific emotion-centered tool that you can use to help yourself get out of that stress cycle.
Lektion 11
The Stress From Discouragement Or Feeling Negative
In this lesson, we'll explore the stress that's connected to feeling negative or discouraged. Sometimes we get "in a funk." It can happen, and it's an attitude that starts to color how we see the world, our lives, and it sucks our joy away. You'll learn a tool for shifting your emotion from this state, to a new, more optimistic viewpoint.
Lektion 12
The Stress From Feeling Out Of Control
This lesson will address the stress that happens when we feel like life is spinning out of control. When a lot of things are happening, and we feel like we're on an emotional rollercoaster. You'll learn what categories of tools work best for this sort of stress, and you'll learn a specific emotion-centered tool that works well to shift out of the stress cycle.
