Lektion 1
Mitra – The Inner Sun Of Spring
In this opening session, we explore the meaning of Aum Mitrāya Namaḥ and the solar quality of Mitra, often described as the friend of all. Mitra represents the gentle light of the sun that awakens connection, trust, and harmony — both within ourselves and in our relationship with the world around us.
You’ll discover why this mantra is traditionally associated with the beginning of spring and how its energy supports clarity, renewal, and new beginnings.
We also place the mantra within the tradition of the twelve Sun Mantras, offering a broader understanding of when and why these mantras are chanted throughout the solar cycle.
This session gently sets the foundation for the course and introduces the deeper exploration of sound, pronunciation, and inner resonance that will unfold in the sessions to come.
This course is part of the Sun Mantra Deep Dive series, which also includes explorations of Om Hraḥ Pūṣṇe Namaḥ and Aum Hraḥ Bhāskarāya Namaḥ.
Lektion 2
The Sound Is The Meaning – Mitrāya
In this session, we begin our pronunciation journey by exploring the sound of Mitrāya, with special attention to the dental “t”.
You’ll discover how subtle articulation shapes the vibration of the mantra and why, in the mantra tradition, sound itself carries meaning.
Through guided listening and chanting, we explore how small changes in tongue position and clarity of pronunciation influence resonance, presence, and the relational quality of the mantra.
We chant together in a simple Vedic style, focusing on clarity, awareness, and the lived experience of sound.
Lektion 3
Opening And Holding Space – The Long Ā In Mitrāya
In this session, we explore the difference between short and long vowels and how they shape openness and stability in chanting.
Through embodied practice, breath awareness, and repetition, you’ll experience how the long ā in Mitrāya naturally creates space, allowing the sound to expand while remaining grounded.
As the vowel lengthens, the mantra begins to open — supporting a sense of heart space, trust, and steady inner expansion.
This session invites you to feel how vowel length subtly influences both resonance and inner attitude while chanting.
Lektion 4
Inner Focus And Outer Connection – The Sounds I And A
In this session, we explore the dynamic relationship between the sounds i and a within the mantra.
The sound i naturally draws awareness inward, supporting clarity and inner focus.
The sound a opens the voice outward, inviting expression and connection.
Through chanting, listening, and subtle awareness, you’ll experience how the mantra Mitrāya moves between these two directions — inward clarity and outward relationship.
In this balance, the deeper quality of Mitra begins to emerge: a presence that connects inner awareness with harmonious connection in the world.
Lektion 5
Vibration And Living Sound – The Role Of R
In this session, we explore the sound r as a carrier of vibration, warmth, and vitality within the mantra.
You’ll discover how a gentle vibration of the tongue brings subtle movement into the sound and helps the mantra come alive.
Through chanting and attentive listening, you may notice how this small but powerful sound awakens resonance in the chest and heart space, supporting a sense of warmth, flow, and living presence in the mantra.
Rather than repeating the mantra mechanically, the sound r invites a more dynamic and embodied expression of Mitrāya.
Lektion 6
The Essence Of The Mantra – The Solar Bīja Hraṁ
In this session, we explore the solar bīja mantra Hraṁ, a sound traditionally associated with the activating and clarifying energy of the sun (Satyananda tradition).
You’ll learn how to pronounce the bīja and experience how its vibration condenses the energetic essence of the mantra.
Through attentive chanting and listening, we explore how Hraṁ can deepen your connection to Aum Mitrāya Namaḥ, illuminating the inner sun while keeping the practice simple and direct.
This session invites you to experience how a single seed sound can carry the concentrated vitality of the mantra.
Lektion 7
Living With Mitra – Bringing The Mantra Into Daily Life
In this final session, we explore how the mantra can naturally accompany you beyond the course.
You’ll receive simple ideas for integrating Aum Mitrāya Namaḥ into daily life, gentle rituals, and movement — including its connection with Hasta Uttānāsana within Sūrya Namaskāra, the traditional Sun Salutation sequence in yoga.
We also reflect on how the quality of Mitra — friendship, trust, and harmonious connection — can continue to support your relationships, communication, and inner alignment.
This closing session invites you to carry the mantra forward as a living practice, allowing the solar quality of Mitra to accompany your days with clarity, warmth, and connection.
If you feel inspired to continue exploring the solar mantras, the Sun Mantra Deep Dive series offers further journeys into other names of the sun and their unique qualities.
