Buddham Sharanam
by Craig Pruess
This is the second track from the internationally known album, “Sacred Chants of Buddha” (1999), which consists of four 15-minute sound journeys using four different, deeply meditative Buddhist chants. This track specifically is great for swaying and/or yoga dancing. These recordings use specific frequencies to align the nervous system to inner silence, and the very spacious sound in the music production and arrangements brings expansion to the awareness. The Buddhist tradition is centred on the quest for enlightenment, when the veils of delusion are peeled away and the true majestic nature of our innermost Self is revealed in all its glory. Love, compassion, generosity, dispassion, caring, friendliness, and happiness all naturally blossom in everyday life. In this selection, vocals, instruments, percussion, arrangement, production, and sound engineering by Craig Pruess, with sarangi played by Y Satish, bansuri by DP Bannerjee, and Indian vocal phrases by Pundit Vishwa Prakash.
