
Grounding Meditation

This meditation focuses on the energy of being grounded. We will create and settle into a grounded space of being safe and secure in the body.
Transcript
It's time to move into a space of being grounded with the first chakra.
The first chakra is located at the base of the spine and has to do with your sense of well-being in the body,
Sense of safety and security in the world,
And the core level of our group or tribal agreements.
And ultimately the first chakra is the place where we can make a deep connection with and experience the energy of the earth.
So I invite you to sit back and relax in a comfortable chair and just begin to notice your surroundings for a moment.
Notice the room that you're in.
Notice your sense of the size of the space,
The openness of it.
And once you notice your surroundings,
Begin to bring your attention inward towards yourself and begin to notice your body.
Notice how it's feeling.
Continue to bring your attention to yourself as you simply connect with and notice the breath.
And then gently close your eyes and begin to bring your attention a little bit more inward as we close our eyes and begin to move into a space of meditation.
And as you close your eyes,
Notice your sense of the space around you with your eyes closed.
Your sense of the space around you as perceived simply with your awareness.
And notice your sense of the body with your eyes closed.
And from the body,
Notice your sense of your personal space.
Do you have a sense of your space?
And as you begin to move into meditation,
You begin to shift your focus into an awareness of your own personal space.
And that personal space can feel as big or as small as you would like.
And the focus and awareness on your personal space includes an awareness of the body.
And notice how your body feels.
Notice if your body is stimulated,
Activated,
Antsy in any way.
Notice if your body is relaxed and calm and quiet.
And regardless of where you find the body,
I'd like you to get the consideration of allowing your attention to begin to rest within the body.
Allowing your attention to relax into the body.
And allowing the body to relax into your chair.
So that connectedness with the planet that we can experience from the first chakra is something that is very important to us.
Something that we can experience from the first chakra is something we could call being grounded.
And we've all experienced a time or a place,
Perhaps out in nature,
Perhaps out in the park,
Perhaps by a cozy fire,
Where everything seemed okay and the body relaxed and we suddenly were grounded and centered within ourselves.
That sense of groundedness,
The calm that comes with it is a space where the first chakra has relaxed and connected with the planet.
There's no survival or fear.
There's usually a sense of well-being.
I would invite you to just take a nice deep breath.
Think of one of those times in your life where you felt the most grounded.
And move into that feeling right now.
Allow yourself to feel grounded.
Knowing that you've already noticed your surroundings and it's safe.
You've already connected with your body and there's space to be calm and relaxed.
You can allow yourself to move into that feeling of being grounded.
We can experience grounding as a connection with nature or with something that's safe and comfortable for us.
But today I'd like to expand that consideration of grounding to include an energy tool,
A visualization that allows us to create an energy connection to the planet that helps to stabilize the first chakra,
Helps to strengthen the first chakra,
And that creates the avenue through which we can release energy.
Take a nice deep breath.
And begin to get a sense of the base of your spine.
And at the base of your spine is where the first chakra sits.
You can imagine that energy center as a point of light,
Well,
A little bigger than a point,
It might be like a 50 cent piece.
Allow your attention to go to that part of your space and your body.
Notice how it feels as you put your attention onto your first chakra.
And then begin to get a sense of the center of the planet.
Reach down with your awareness to sense the center of the planet.
And then what I'd like you to do is to connect your first chakra to the center of the planet with a line of energy.
A line of energy that is perhaps as wide as your hips.
Extends all the way into the center of the planet,
Almost like a tail.
Or you could imagine a big beautiful tree.
And notice the sensation of being grounded.
Notice the feeling.
There may be a feeling in the body of being more connected.
There may be a feeling of release.
A pull towards the center of the planet.
And you can allow yourself to let go of your day.
Let go of any tension.
Let go of your worries.
Because when you're grounding from the first chakra and the first chakra becomes stabilized,
There is a space that opens up within where all is well.
Where there's room to relax into the body,
To connect with a sense of well-being or peace,
And to let go.
And you can allow yourself to release and let go.
And you are now being grounded from the first chakra.
And you can continue to be grounded and relax.
And you can continue to be grounded and relax into this space.
To notice your breath in the body as things fall away.
And there is no effort in being grounded or releasing.
It's a space of seeing and knowing your connection with the planet.
And allowing the body to relax into that connection.
And then take a nice deep breath.
And begin to allow your attention to come back to an awareness of the space around you.
To an awareness of your surroundings.
And as you take a few deep breaths,
You can begin to stretch the body.
In whatever way it wants to move and stretch as you open your eyes and come out of meditation.
And notice how you feel as you come out of meditation and stand up in silence.
And notice how you feel as you come out of meditation and stand up and stretch.
