My Chosen Family

Over the last year, I have learned so much about my ‘chosen family’ which is different than my birth family or Spirit family. Some of you may have had an adoptive family. My chosen family is family that I have attracted to me and vice versa. My chosen family is unconditionally supportive and loving and do not carry judgement. It is a refreshing change and has supported my Spiritual growth over this last year. Have you found your chosen family?

Good morning to all my Insight Timer friends.

My spirit name is Standing Strong.

My clan is Caribou,

The Hoof Clan.

I'm from the Red Rock Indian Band and I live here on this sacred land that I call Niibin,

Which means it is summer.

I've been inspired to share a little bit with you about our chosen families.

We could call them our tribes.

Sometimes you'll hear comments from people about that they have found their tribe.

I love what Australia shares as well.

I believe they call it one mob.

So in other words,

There's only one group of people,

All of us together.

Anyways,

We do have our birth families.

Some of us get to grow up with our birth families.

Some of us may have been adopted out and you had a new family.

Some of us have had children and so they are also part of us,

Part of our blood relations,

If you will.

And then maybe they have children and so you have grandchildren and so on.

It continues.

Today I wanted to talk about my chosen family.

I'm not sure if there's a better term for it and maybe if you can think of one,

You can help me with that.

What would be a better term?

So yeah,

My chosen family,

My tribe.

I've always been the kind of person that didn't have girlfriends or friends that I would hang out with.

Sure,

I did when I was in my teenager years,

You know,

Getting into trouble.

But as a young adult,

I didn't really have friends.

That all changed this year and I'm referring to 2023.

So at the beginning of 2023,

I was inspired through spirit to initiate a Sacred Circle.

And so the Sacred Circle is a virtual free circle that we have been conducting and you can get more information about that when you look at my Insight Timer publisher profile.

You'll see a link tree there and you'll get more information about this and more information about how to reach out to me as well.

So my chosen family became the women primarily so far that became part of this Sacred Circle and I have been depending on them all this year as I continue to interrupt the intergenerational trauma in my family with my ancestors and with my descendants.

It definitely has been a hard year,

But it did have its moments and those moments came with my chosen family.

So doing things like having a retreat,

Debriefing with someone if I was dealing with something difficult,

Brainstorming with someone to receive inspiration or to give inspiration.

But I think the most important thing that I've learned about my chosen family is that they support me unconditionally.

They love me unconditionally.

They don't judge me.

I'm sure that even if they are not sure or don't agree with what I'm doing,

They always provide support and helping to walk me off the ledge.

That's happened a few times this year.

So I want to extend my gratitude to my chosen family and I'd like to encourage all of you to also find your chosen family.

Perhaps it's the people you're meeting here on Insight Timer.

This is such an amazing platform and I have learned so much in the couple of months that I've been on here.

So yeah,

I wanted to share that with you.

Today I felt inspired to share that and it's always best to share when you do feel inspired.

You might have heard the term,

When the spirit moves you.

Yeah,

So the spirit is moving me to share this inspiration with you.

So I wish you very good fortune with either finding your chosen family or learning depending on your chosen family.

So surrendering to that,

Surrendering to spirit to find your chosen family.

And yeah,

I love this! I think "Chosen Family" is a beautiful terminology for what you have and are continually building. Maybe I should say "we are all continually building". You're doing this with great conscientious intention and presence, perhaps more than many people really do. I currently realize a lot of people kind of throw around the word tribe, which does have a specific meaning. And so maybe that is not the most aligned term with respect to the meaning for which they are using it. I'm not sure I can think of a better terminology than Chosen Family. I have always like to say "my peeps", 🤭😏but kind of light-heartedly borrowing the term, and knowing I've basically UP-clycled it. 💁‍♀️And to me, it means just that: "my Chosen Family". 😍💓💞🥰
