Hey Mama

"Hey Mama" is a song that touches on the grief of losing a parent, the immense love a son or daughter has for the one who gave them life, and the knowing that they will always be with us, watching over us from the other side. I wrote it while going through the experience of losing my mom, during her battle with cancer and a most tender time as my family was walking her home. It brought much healing and was supportive as I sought to find my way through during this difficult initiation. I dedicate this song to the memory of my mom, Dalal Assaad. She was truly a miracle and a force of nature. Her legacy is one of boundless Love and her unparalleled ability to use the adversity and the challenges she faced in her life as fuel for greater passion and deeper purpose. May her legacy of Love continue to grow and multiply, and may her inextinguishable bright Light shine on down the ages. This is one of my fave pics of her. It’s how I imagine her now, at Home in Heaven & soaring free.
