Welcome to Charm Words,
Your daily reminder to be good to yourself and others.
My name's Zola,
And together,
We're going to breathe in the good.
Without the bad,
And use words to remind ourselves of our worth.
Everyone gets angry from time to time,
And because it's a powerful emotion,
It can cloud our judgment of a person or situation.
Today's Charm Words are about practicing kindness,
Even when we don't feel like it.
It's hard to remember in the moment,
But sometimes people mess up without realizing.
Instead of lashing out,
We can take the time to calm down and handle the problem gracefully.
Let's do some belly breathing,
Then we'll do our affirmations.
When you breathe in,
Use your nose and keep your shoulders still.
Once your belly fills up like a balloon,
Breathe out through your mouth by just letting go.
In through your nose,
Out through the mouth.
Ready?
Take a gentle deep breath slowly through your nose,
And breathe out through your mouth.
In through your nose,
Out through your mouth.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
One more time,
Breathe in,
And breathe out.
Today's Charm Words are,
I replace anger with compassion.
I'll say it first,
Then repeat after me.
Ready?
I replace anger with compassion.
I replace anger with compassion.
I replace anger with compassion.
I replace anger with compassion.
I replace anger with compassion.
I replace anger with compassion.
Nicely done.
It's okay to feel angry,
But putting ourselves in other people's shoes can help us navigate the situation more thoughtfully.
People don't usually want to upset us on purpose.
We all make mistakes.
So it's important that we practice empathy and patience with others.
Let's do a high five.
On the count of three,
High five the person closest to you,
Or clap your hands together and high five yourself.
Ready?
One,
Two,
Three.
