Andina, Inca Ancestral Cleansing Awaits
by Carlos Carty
With his unique vision and ability to expand the horizons of the charango, Álvaro Quisbert is, without a doubt, the ideal artist to bring compositions seeking new sonorities to life. That's why we have the immense honor of having invited him to perform one of my most important works: "Andina". This time, "Andina" will be presented in a solo version for ronroco. This is a fascinating instrument, a cousin of the charango, but with a larger body and a more robust and profound timbre. Its unique sound allows for the exploration of nuances and resonances not possible on the traditional charango, lending the piece an extra layer of emotion and introspection. It is through the ronroco that the music directly transports us to the isolated and majestic Andean landscapes, where the wind blows freely over the ichus (typical grasses) and alpacas graze, bathed in the sun's rays, creating a visceral connection with the essence of the mountain range.
