For the next 25 minutes,
We're going to take a dive into the wonders of the deep imagination.
Let's start by ensuring that you are physically relaxed.
So sit or lie down somewhere comfortable and we'll begin.
First,
I'd like you to concentrate on the feelings in your toes and feet.
Just imagine how it would feel for all the muscles in your toes and feet to become deeply relaxed.
You might find it easier if you imagine that you're dipping your feet into a pool of warm bubbling water like a jacuzzi or a hot spring.
And you can imagine just as vividly as you can how it would feel for all of that warm water to bubble all around your feet,
Feeling the warmth,
Feeling the comfort,
Relaxing the muscles.
And as we go on,
I'd like you to imagine that little by little you're sinking more and more deeply into that pool or that the water is moving up and around your body in some other way.
I'd like you to imagine that the water is moving up now,
Up through your ankles,
Into your calves.
Again,
Feel the warmth spreading all through those muscles,
Swirling around,
Letting go of any discomfort as it moves up through your knees like a gentle river of relaxation,
Taking any tension away,
Swirling around your thighs,
Melting away any tension in those muscles,
Loosening them,
Feeling your legs warm and heavy and very,
Very comfortable.
Now as the water moves up through your hips and your lower back,
Soothing away any discomfort,
Warm and relaxing.
Up now into your stomach muscles,
Melting away any tension,
Feeling the water warm and around your stomach,
Gently easing away any discomfort,
Loosening up those muscles,
Letting them relax and all around your back,
Soothing and warm.
And the water is still continuing to gently flow upwards in your chest muscles,
Feeling the warmth all around your chest,
Loosening the muscles,
Feeling how much more easily you can breathe with those muscles so deeply relaxed.
So it's almost as if the very act of breathing is increasing your comfort,
That wonderful sense of release as you breathe out,
Letting all the tension release from your body and moving up your shoulders into those places at the back of your neck where tension and knots can gather,
Feeling the water bubbling gently against those knots,
Loosening them so that you're so much more comfortable now,
So warm and all around your throat,
Warm and soothing.
And up across the back of your head,
Up onto your scalp,
As if it's bathing your scalp and gentle waves of relaxation.
And that warmth creeping down now through your forehead down,
Down across your face and cheeks and jaw,
Loosening the muscles,
Imagining the tension just flowing away and down through your neck,
Out across your shoulders,
Down,
Down through your arms,
Feeling the warmth,
Feeling the comfort down now through your elbows and wrists and into your fingertips,
Letting go of all the tightness and tension,
Letting it all flow away on that gentle tide of relaxation,
That feeling of letting go of every muscle in your body just loosening up of every nerve in your body becoming very,
Very quiet,
Very peaceful,
Not doing any more than is absolutely necessary,
As if nothing else exists for you.
That calmness,
That deep sense of peace,
Of weightless suspension,
As you feel all the pressures drift away.
Absolutely nothing to do,
Just let yourself be.
And on an even deeper level to experience a sense of your own inner being,
Who you are,
Discovering resources,
Uncovering possibilities that you never suspected you had,
But which have been there all along.
Now I'd like you to imagine that you are standing in the midst of a range of beautiful high mountains,
Just the kind of mountains that you'd like to be among.
Don't worry about how you got there,
Just be grateful for the beauty of it,
For the sense of openness,
Of possibility.
And as you look around,
You discover that there's a path right in front of you,
It leads all the way up to the highest peak of all.
It's not a very long walk and it's surprisingly easy in your deeply relaxed state to make this gentle ascent all the way up.
Notice how the air around you changes as you walk all the way up,
Feel the coolness of a slight breeze caressing your skin,
Hear the silence and take a deep,
Take it deep inside your body.
Taste the cleanliness of the air,
Every one of your senses awakening to the crisp,
Clear beauty of this place.
All the way up you go now as if you're almost gliding.
And finally,
Here you are right on top of the summit of the highest mountain of all.
So take a deep breath and look all around you.
The sky is so vivid that the air is almost like sparkling with blue crystals.
The air is so light,
So crisp and so clean,
Everything is just sparkling with clarity.
And as you take another deep breath in and then out,
A sense of anticipation awaits you,
A curiously focused alert calmness fed by the calmness of the crisp mountain air.
You're beautifully relaxed and yet so full of clarity and anticipation.
Notice now that there's a path down on the other side of the mountain.
It's a gentle and safe descent.
The path down is easy and level.
And in a few moments time,
You'll hear me count down from five to one.
And with each number that I count down between five and one,
I'd like you to imagine that you were drifting a little further down the path.
And with each number that I count,
And with every step you take down,
I'd like you to imagine you're drifting ever more deeply down into a deeper and deeper feeling of relaxed,
Focused attention.
So ready,
Five,
Taking the first step down.
Four,
Letting yourself drift down deeper and deeper.
Three,
Deeper and deeper relaxed.
Two,
Still drifting down.
And one,
Taking the final step.
At the very bottom of the path,
You notice that a shimmering curtain of mist sits before you.
Step through that curtain of mist,
Feeling a wonderful,
Fresh,
Tingling sensation as you cross over into this world,
Taking with you that beautiful sense of deep,
Physical relaxation and focused,
Alert attention.
And find yourself now as you step through in a place that's very special to you.
And one of the things that's special about this place is it's a place that you can feel safe,
Almost as if there's a protective bubble around you in this place,
Like a sanctuary.
I'd like you to spend a few moments just looking around at what you can see in that place,
Noticing the sounds you hear,
How it smells in that place,
How the air feels against your skin.
Experiencing it with every one of your senses.
I'd like you to spend some time in that space quietly at first,
Just noticing what happens,
Waiting for something to move before you approach it,
Waiting to be invited to engage before you engage.
And I'm going to leave you there in that place for 10 minutes.
During that period of time,
You won't hear my voice,
Only the music,
And at the end of that 10 minute period,
I'll call you back.
And now it's time to leave that special place behind for a while,
Knowing you can come back here anytime you choose.
In a few moments time,
You'll hear me count up from one through five.
And from each number that I count,
One through five,
You'll find yourself waking back up and walking up the path to the top of the mountain.
And as you drift on up,
So easy,
Not at all steep,
You become more and more awake.
And by the count of three,
Your eyes will open.
And by the count of five,
You'll be back at the top of the mountain and fully wide awake.
And every part of you will be back with me here in the present.
And all normal healthy sensations will return to your body and limbs.
You'll awaken feeling great,
Feeling refreshed,
Bringing back with you that sense of magic,
Of wonder,
Of possibility that you encountered in your special place.
So ready,
One,
Waking up,
Two,
Further up,
Three,
Opening your eyes,
Four and five,
Fully awake.
Welcome back.
I hope you enjoyed your journey.
