Why should a spiritual seeker be sincere and avoid hypocrisy? In this talk, Satyanarayana Dasa Babaji offers a refreshingly practical answer: because cheating on the spiritual path harms no one but yourself. Using the example of an employee who neglects work while appearing busy, Babaji shows how insincerity delays your own progress. Unlike a job where managers hold you accountable, the spiritual path has no external enforcer. God is not harmed by your laziness. You are the only one who loses. True sincerity comes not from fear of punishment but from genuine understanding of your goal. When you clearly know what you want, avoiding distraction and self-deception becomes natural self-interest. Babaji teaches that constantly remembering your purpose creates an inner sensitivity that warns you when you drift. That awareness, arising from within, is the foundation of authentic spiritual practice. Relevant to anyone exploring sincerity, self-discipline, spiritual motivation, and bhakti.

You have to have proper knowledge,

Understanding.

Clarity of the goal what you want and once you have Shraddha in that,

Then you know that by being hypocritical.

By being deceptive and creating obstacles to my goal.

Like if same example of the job,

If you are going to the job,

And there you don't do your job properly.

You are working on your computer instead of working on the job.

You are watching some YouTube videos.

Applying to emails.

And then whenever somebody comes,

Then immediately change,

You know,

As if you're working.

So ultimately you will not be able to do the job which you have been assigned.

And then you will not get promotion or you may get fired from your job.

So you know it.

So,

Therefore,

If you are intelligent person you will not do that.

Because you want to keep your job.

So here it is the same thing if you understand that this Bhakti is very important for me.

I want love of God.

So,

Therefore,

I don't want to do anything which will delay it which will put obstacle to it or I may get completely fired.

It will also leave the path right.

So that is firing.

Then you get fired from the process.

Go home.

Watch YouTube videos,

No problem,

Nobody is going to stop your sleep.

So you have to yourself understand it.

Ultimately it is not that somebody has to In case of job,

They have supervisors,

They have managers,

They have all these people too.

Over to you.

To manage it.

Here you have to manage yourself because this is a path of love.

Love is not by force.

So you have to do it yourself,

That's why God does not force anything.

If you are cheating,

It doesn't harm him.

In case of office,

It harms the company when you cheat.

So that's why they will punish you but here if you cheat It doesn't happen to God.

Anything is not losing.

It's you who are the loser.

So,

If you know this,

That actually by being hypocritical,

By being lazy,

By cheating,

I am harming myself.

If you understand it.

Then you will not do it because nobody wants to harm oneself.

Unless people are not very intelligent.

Then they harm themselves also.

People do things which is harmful for their own health or their own family or their own.

Spiritual path.

Let's still do it.

So that's smart.

Very intelligent.

It's like many people also get fired from job,

They know that they are fired.

Should not do but they still do.

Then they get fired.

So,

That was not very intelligent on their part.

So we have to have this awareness all the time.

Why am I doing it?

What is my benefit?

You have to always remember.

My Krishna says,

Tasmat sarveshu kalesu mam anusmaran.

In digit.

So remembering your goal,

Your purpose.

If you have that memory then At least when you are doing something wrong,

It will come back.

Create some vibration inside.

But no,

Better I don't do it.

It's not good.

So that feeling has to come from within.
