Old Treasures: SoulFood
by Azure Peace
In this guided meditation, we rediscover how we already are abundant in material and non-material things and qualities by reflecting on a few key questions. This way we rediscover the treasures within us and around us. This is food for the soul, finding the new in old treasures.
Transcript
This guided meditation helps us reconnect with both our recent and long-forgotten past,
Reflecting and recognizing what was valuable back then with the purpose of reconnecting to it.
This series of questions help by shedding the light of awareness in a place that we usually do not pay attention to.
You might find that these questions trigger back memories that you might want to linger on and explore individually in your own time.
Feel free to pause the meditation and go down the path of that specific memory.
Savor the journey.
Other times it's nice to do this practice with the aid of paper and pen or a journal and jot down things that come to mind.
Maybe by the end of the meditation you may end up with newly found treasures that you have forgotten.
Feel free to come back to this meditation whenever you feel you are craving for something.
By associating old treasures with new desires you make sure you resurface the gifts you already have instead of constantly looking for new ones.
Find yourself in a comfortable posture and bring your attention to the thoughts of your body on the surface that's supporting you.
Release the tension from your shoulders.
Release the tension from your eyebrows.
Relax your jaw and bring your attention to the inhale and exhale.
Allowing your breath to be exactly as it is and you becoming the vessel,
The awareness of these questions that are here to help you on your life's journey.
This is a moment of reflection.
Take this moment.
This moment is singular.
And even though I invite you to play this recording again for whenever you need to act as if this is the one and only time you are playing it.
Because one lifetime,
One meeting.
Everything is singular.
No human steps on the same river twice.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Allow yourself to reflect.
What possible treasures are buried in your past?
What memories do you have within you that if recalled would energize you?
What things have you forgotten you have?
What did you set aside for when you have some free time?
What did you want to pursue but never made time for?
What did you postpone for later?
What hobby or interest did society's urgencies cover up?
What tangible or intangible objects are there in your life that you might have lost track of?
That you have put away and maybe now overlook?
That you have bookmarked but still waiting to come back to?
What discoveries did you save for later?
What activities were you devoted to when you were younger?
What subjects or objects did you feel deep affection towards?
Which remembered things bring warmth in your heart?
What were your inclinations as a child?
What brought you the most enjoyment in the past?
What brings you most enthusiasm in the present?
What do you feel most fond of?
What were you curious about?
What did you find most interesting?
What was your favorite pastime?
What is it that makes you feel most alive?
What fires you up?
What is hidden in plain sight because you got acclimated to your surroundings?
Take a moment and reflect on those questions.
Can you please take a side in your thinks and Rediscovering all treasures,
Subjects that we were attracted to and captivated by when we were younger perhaps have something to offer to our present self.
With the added experience and maturity that hopefully has occurred with the passage of time we are now able to find deeper meaning,
Connection and value.
This can be quite literal as well.
What wonderful things have we put aside in a box,
In a closet,
In the attic,
In our bookmarks because we were attracted to the next thing,
The new,
The better.
Maybe now is the time to re-evaluate and appreciate them.
Life is a wonderful journey mixed with joy,
Suffering,
Urgencies,
Compromises and surprises which can cause us to lose track of what was once important to us.
It's really easy to misplace things,
Items,
Memories,
Events,
Especially in the digital age.
How many friends or acquaintances do we have that brought us joy when we met them but never really got in touch with?
How many friends could use a hello from us?
How many things have we saved for later,
On our phone,
Taking photos,
Videos,
Voice memos,
Notes,
Hoping that capturing this moment will come back to it later and see it again and appreciate it again?
But often we don't because there are more photos to be taken,
Videos to be captured,
Things to be made.
So it's good to stop and appreciate what we already have.
Life's priorities made some things more important than others and that's natural during different periods of our lives but it's good to look back and reflect and see what's there.
Maybe you'll find something you didn't notice before about yourself.
Let us place reflection,
Conscious awareness,
Mindfulness and gratitude by asking these questions.
Take time to breathe and relax.
This practice can bring joy as well as grief for all the things that have been forgotten and may not be available to us anymore.
Be kind to yourself.
We can't do everything.
We are having a human experience which usually involves walking in the dark with limited amount of information and wisdom,
Having to take steps ahead without knowing everything about the situation.
And we often have to delve deep into uncomfortable and unknown territories.
That's how we grow.
So I invite you to say this out loud with me.
I give myself a chance to rediscover and reconnect with the treasures within me.
One more time.
I give myself a chance to rediscover and reconnect with the treasures within me.
This is Azure,
Your friend.
I love you because you are another me and I am another you.
And underneath the appearances,
You and I are one.
Namaste.

Thank you. This was beautiful and enchanting and very thought provoking and just now I see my life, I am 81 years old, racing backward and forth...I have a million memories to rediscover and I will listen to you again and again and allow them to unfold once more...and some of them will want to be heard... After listening to you I am aware of the expansiveness within and feel a sense of stillness and peace... Namaste
