Hello everybody,
This is Audrey Costa with Deep Rooted Wellness and Creatives.
Welcome to the Science of Nature series.
Today we're gonna talk about our sight and we're gonna talk about fractals in nature.
So in nature there are patterns called fractals and our sense of sight loves these patterns.
Nature is full of repeating patterns.
If you think about it,
The branches of a tree,
The waves in water,
Clouds,
Leaves,
Even seashells.
The human brain responds positively to these patterns.
We are drawn to them.
Studies show that looking at fractals can reduce stress and mental fatigue and increase the feelings of calm.
Our nervous system evolved in natural environments so these visual patterns feel familiar and soothing.
Even brief exposures,
Like a minute,
Can support relaxation and focus.
So I challenge you today to find a natural pattern to gaze.
It could be a leaf,
The bark on a tree,
Gaze up at the clouds,
Or even a photo of nature.
I challenge you to gaze for one minute,
Let your eyes wander without much effort,
And then I want you to notice.
Do you have any changes in your tension,
Your stress,
Or your breathing?
Thank you for joining.
