Good morning my friend.

I went for a hike this morning and guess what?

It's autumn here.

I got to see the firework show that Mother Nature is putting on and it is breathtaking.

And since you were on my mind,

I thought I'd drop you a postcard today.

This display of color and wonder,

Well it made me think of life and how life isn't linear.

It was especially evident when I took a picture of a single branch of a tree.

Yep,

A single branch.

A single branch with leaves of all differing stages of changing colors.

There were leaves that were perfectly green,

As if the weather and the length of the days hadn't even changed.

And there were other leaves that seemed to be taking baby steps towards the changing of the seasons.

As well as others that seemed to be forging ahead,

Taking the bull by the horns and embracing change with gusto.

I couldn't help but see a direct correlation to life.

Do you ever find yourself resisting change?

Or taking your time to change?

And yet at other times you forge ahead and can't wait for change.

Well me either.

All of these phases of change are beautiful and nonlinear.

Do we give ourselves grace though for our own timelines and seasons,

No matter what that looks like?

I know that sometimes it may seem that our ability to change,

Our rate of change,

Doesn't seem good enough or fast enough when we compare it with others.

Do you ever compare your journey with the journey of someone else?

I know I do sometimes.

It's a very human aspect and yet one that I believe needs to evolve.

What we often see in others is just the frosting,

Just the surface of their life.

So listen up my friend.

Comparison,

Whether it's comparing ourself to some version of ourself we seem to think we should be or comparing ourselves to others,

No matter what that is.

Well it's a risky business.

There is nothing good that truly comes from comparison.

So what if it's taken longer than we thought it would?

Is this a race?

And if so what's the finish line?

It's not a race but a journey.

And the part that we seem to forget is that the destination is not where it's at.

It's not a when-then scenario.

When this happens then I'll be happy or successful,

Content,

Whatever.

No.

The joy,

The prize,

The success,

Well it's all in the process,

In the journey itself.

Because that destination,

Well let me tell you a secret,

It's always changing.

Because we take new and different turns all of the time.

And we do this because our knowledge and the information that we receive changes every step of the way.

It changes the way that we look at things and therefore can change the way that we do things,

The way we think,

The way we get from A to B,

Or it can change the endgame altogether.

And you know what?

Your journey is unique to you.

So then comparison is pointless.

It's an unproductive use of our precious time here on earth.

You are you for a reason.

And that's just as it should be.

So it takes you longer than someone else.

So what?

Your process is distinctly you.

So embrace it.

Love it.

And own it as your own.

Because babe,

There is only one of you.

And that you is freaking incredible.

So get to it.

You have a lot of life left being you.

So make it sensational.

Love ya.

Loved your analogy of changing leave like fireworks. Autumn is my favorite time of the year. Change is good. Thank you! 😊🙏🏻🦋🌱
