There are those instances in which we go back to a time of pain,
Of trauma,
Of upset.
But so often we are brought back to these moments in our mind with that same pain,
The same fear.
And sometimes we go back to be cruel to ourselves,
To ask,
What were you thinking?
Why would you do that?
Why would you say that?
In this time,
We're going to return to a particular moment.
One that you visited before,
A moment that you struggle with.
But instead of going back as the person who lived that moment,
You will go back as yourself in this moment.
Not to berate,
Not to tell off,
Not to inflict pain on,
But to offer support.
Sit or lie in a comfortable position and close your eyes.
Breathe in through your nose and out to your mouth.
Make sure that you're comfortable.
Adjust your body as you need to ensure this.
Allow your breathing to be long and rhythmic.
Call to mind a situation from the past that comes to you with frequency.
It might be a moment from your childhood,
Might be a recent upset.
Any moment that you go back to in pain and discomfort.
Now I want you to return to this moment from a bird's eye view.
I want you to imagine yourself like you're watching everything unfold on the screen.
What are you doing?
Where are you located?
