Hello,
My name's Hayley and welcome to this audio,
The Confidence Circle.
This is really useful to listen to,
Particularly if you've got something coming up in your life that you're a little worried about.
Maybe an interview,
Or exams,
Public speaking,
A presentation at work,
Or just anything where you need that extra boost of confidence just to help power you through.
It's a really simple practice that you can use time and time again.
So let's begin.
First of all,
Find a space where you won't be disturbed.
So begin by finding a nice comfortable place to sit or to stand.
And begin just by taking in a nice deep long breath in through the nose.
Holding the breath on the inhale for up to four seconds if you can.
And as you exhale,
I'd like you to make your exhale as long as you can.
The aim here is to make the exhale longer than the inhale.
So let's practice that together.
Breathing in through the nose.
And hold.
And exhale.
When you exhale,
Imagine you're blowing out the candles on a birthday cake.
That way you can really exaggerate the exhale through the lips.
So practice that again for me.
Breathing in through the nose.
Hold.
And exhale.
That's wonderful.
Now I'm going to walk you through a really simple practice called the confidence circle.
Anyone can use this at any time but it's always helpful as I said just before an event that's making you a little bit nervous.
So just listen to the instructions for me and then we'll walk through it together.
So to start,
I'd like you to imagine that on the floor in front of you there is a circle.
You can make that circle as large as you want it to be,
But it should be large enough for you to stand inside of very comfortably.
Or if you're seated,
It's large enough for you to allow a chair to sit inside of as well.
So just begin by imagining a big circle in front of you on the floor.
Now I'd like you to bring to mind somebody who you really admire for their confidence.
That could be somebody you know who's a friend,
Perhaps he's a teacher or a mentor.
Or celebrity.
Or anyone that comes to mind that you think.
They're so confident.
I really admire that in them.
You notice the way they stand,
The way they walk.
The way they hold themselves in conversation.
All of the things that you admire about them,
I'd like you to bring to mind.
And I'd like you to see that person wearing a specific colour.
Maybe it's your favourite colour,
But choose a colour that you can quickly think of.
Imagine that person who you admire is in that colour right now and you can see them standing in front of you in the confidence circle.
And the confidence circle you notice radiates this beautiful colour that this person is wearing.
It almost glows from within.
And as you look at the confidence circle now,
You can amplify that colour even brighter,
Brighter and brighter still until the whole confidence circle is this glowing ball of beautiful colour that you've created.
And now I want you to picture yourself stepping into that pool of light.
Stepping into it,
Fully absorbing it into you.
Moving your arms and legs around almost as if you're swimming in the colour yourself.
Absorbing its essence,
Absorbing its power,
Absorbing all of the qualities of that person that you admire so much.
You see yourself speaking as they do.
You feel calm,
Composed and collected just as they do.
Everything about them infuses into you.
And from where you're standing in that confidence circle,
Or you could also be sitting within the confidence circle,
You absorb all of the elements of this place right now into your own subconscious mind.
And while you're standing there now,
I want you to picture yourself in the future event that is coming up for you.
See yourself there,
Standing confidently,
Speaking confidently,
But glowing in this beautiful colour as you do.
This colour is all around you.
As you look to your left,
You notice this beautiful colour.
As you look to your right,
You see it all around you.
You see yourself at this event,
Walking,
Talking,
Glowing with confidence,
Glowing in this beautiful colour that you have chosen.
You see yourself after the event smiling and happy and full of pride for yourself for having done it without any problems at all.
You see people clapping for you.
You see everybody praising you.
You bring to mind the future event unfolding as it will.
Everything falls into place exactly as it should.
Now the beauty of this exercise is it creates an anchor for you in your subconscious mind and you can literally begin to reinstall this confidence every time you see that colour around you as you move through your day.
Remembering that every time you see that color,
You are full of confidence.
You are full of all of the qualities of that person that you so admire.
And you can act like them,
Walk like them,
Embrace everything about them whenever you need to,
Whenever you face an event where you need that extra boost of confidence.
Just seeing that color instills activation within you.
So to finish,
Just take a nice deep breath in for me once more through the nose,
Breathing in deeply now.
Holding the breath.
And exhale.
That's wonderful.
Bringing yourself back now into your surroundings,
Wriggle your hands,
Fingers,
Toes,
Opening your eyes if they're closed.
Bringing yourself back into your conscious awareness.
Ready to continue with your day or if you're practicing this at night just to drift now off into a peaceful sleep.
Infused with your newfound confidence and ready for whatever comes your way.
