Welcome,

This moment is yours,

A time to let go of the day that has passed and allow your body and mind to ease into rest.

Make yourself comfortable,

Perhaps in bed,

Perhaps on the couch,

Feel how your body rests against the surface beneath you,

Close your eyes if you haven't already,

Once more in and slowly exhale,

Feel how your body is given permission to begin relaxing,

We'll start by turning your attention inward,

First to the top of the head,

Softening forehead,

Around the eyes,

The jaw,

Feel that there is nothing you need to hold on to now,

Bring your awareness down to the neck and shoulders,

Maybe you can sense the weight of your arms resting on the surface,

Let go a little more,

Continue down to the chest,

Notice the breath,

How the chest rises and falls effortlessly,

Let the belly soften,

Allow the entire back to relax into the bed,

Supported by the mattress,

Nothing needs to be done,

Nothing needs to be fixed,

You are allowed to rest,

Let your thoughts wander for a moment over the day that has passed,

Is there something small you are grateful for,

A moment of stillness,

A kind word,

Something you did for yourself or someone else,

Feel the warmth in that and let it fill you for a while,

And even if the day was challenging,

That's ok,

You did the best you could,

Allow yourself to appreciate that,

Here you are resting now,

Now think of tomorrow,

Not to plan but to open your heart,

Maybe you can set a simple kind intention for it,

May I meet tomorrow with presence,

May I take care of myself and others,

May I rest in trust,

Now let everything settle,

Thoughts can drift away like leaves falling on the surface of water,

The breath moves gently,

The body is heavy,

The mind becomes still and if sleep comes,

Let it come naturally,

There is nothing you need to do,

You are allowed to rest in safety,

In this moment everything is as it should be,

You are held,

You are safe,

You may sleep.
