This meditation is inspired by the ego,
Or self,
From the book Summoning the Guardians,
Architects of the Subconscious Mind.
It is designed to help you unlock creativity and reconnect with divine wisdom during times of mental stagnation.
Your journey begins with a vivid story leading to an encounter with the ego,
Who will guide you through a powerful meditation.
Take a seat or lie down in a comfortable position,
Relax,
And prepare to embark on this transformative experience.
You feel stuck,
Lost in thought,
In need of clarity,
Inspiration,
Or perhaps even the right questions to ask.
The answers seem far away and frustration begins to creep in.
Then,
You remember a story,
One about an enchanted forest that holds endless possibilities.
Somewhere deep inside,
You know that what you're seeking can be found there.
With a sense of determination,
You decide to search the forest,
Trusting the answers will come to you.
As you step into the forest,
You're struck by its beauty.
Everything around you feels alive,
Buzzing with energy.
A gentle breeze carries with it the sounds of rustling leaves,
And birdsong creating a peaceful symphony that seems to calm your thoughts.
The scents of wildflower and fresh earth reach your nose,
Grounding you in this moment.
Leaves brush softly against your skin as you move forward,
And the grass underfoot feels soft and springy,
Like a comforting cushion beneath each step.
Your senses are awakened,
And for a while,
The forest fills you with joy and curiosity.
You're alive in this experience,
Light on your feet,
Marveling at the intricate details of nature,
And noticing even the smallest creatures going about their day,
As though you weren't even there.
It feels as though the forest itself is encouraging you,
Surrounding you with an atmosphere of possibility and wonder.
But as time passes,
Your search begins to feel more like a struggle.
Your steps grow heavier,
And your back begins to ache.
The initial burst of energy fades,
And frustration starts to take hold.
The joy you felt earlier gives way to impatience,
And the forest no longer seems as magical as it once did.
The rustling leaves and buzzing insects,
Once a delight,
Now feel like distractions.
The colors seem less vibrant,
The air less inviting.
You're beginning to doubt whether you'll find what you came for.
You pause,
Closing your eyes for a moment,
And when you open them,
Something catches your attention,
A flicker of movement,
Just at the edge of your vision.
You whip your head to look,
But whatever it was is gone.
Then you see it again,
A shadowy figure,
Darting between the trees,
Without thinking you spring into action and begin to chase it.
The chase is exhilarating at first,
The shadow is quick,
But so are you.
Every time it changes direction,
So do you,
Left,
Right,
Weaving through the trees.
It feels like a game,
One you're determined to win.
But no matter how fast you run,
How close you seem to get,
The figure always stays just out of reach.
As frustration builds,
You push harder,
Your heart pounding,
Your breath growing ragged.
The shadow seems to be mocking you,
Always staying just one step ahead.
You yell out,
Why are you running,
Stop!
But the shadow doesn't listen,
Instead,
It mirrors your movements.
When you slow down to catch your breath,
It slows too.
When you speed up,
It matches your pace perfectly.
This isn't a game anymore,
It's maddening.
You push yourself to the limits,
Desperate to catch it,
Until finally,
Exhausted,
You stop.
The shadow stops too.
Standing still now,
You notice something strange.
The shadow isn't cast by sunlight,
Because no direct sunlight breaks through the thick canopy of trees above.
Yet,
There it is,
Standing in front of you,
Perfectly mirroring your movement.
You raise an arm,
It raises an arm.
You tilt your head,
It tilts its head.
Frustrated,
You shout,
Why are you mocking me?
I do not have time for games,
I'm here to find inspiration.
For a moment,
The shadow remains still.
Then,
In a voice that seems to come from all around you,
You hear a whisper.
The only way you'll catch me,
Is by stopping.
The words echo in your mind,
You hesitate,
Unsure what to do,
But slowly,
You allow yourself to come to a complete stop.
The shadow does the same.
You stand there for a moment,
Staring at the shadow.
Then,
With a silent nod,
The shadow points to your right.
Its figure begins to dissolve,
Sinking into the forest floor.
You look in the direction it pointed,
And see something you hadn't noticed before.
A tall wall of hedges,
Stretching as far as the eye can see,
With a single opening,
Leading into a maze.
Without hesitation,
You walk towards the entrance,
Feeling a renewed sense of purpose,
Perhaps the inspiration you're seeking lies somewhere within.
Feeling renewed determination,
You step confidently into the entrance of the maze,
Certain the inspiration you seek lies ahead.
You begin with a clear plan.
At each intersection,
You'll turn right,
And carefully count each move,
So you can retrace your steps if needed.
Right 1,
Right 2,
Right 3,
The maze seems to welcome your focus,
Its winding paths reveal no barriers.
Right 4,
Right 5,
Right 6,
Excitement bubbles up as you marvel at your progress,
No dead end so far.
But then,
To your astonishment,
You suddenly find yourself back at the maze's entrance.
Confused,
But not defeated,
You take a moment to regroup,
And try again.
This time,
When you reach the 5th turn,
You decide to take a left turn instead of a right.
Yet once more,
The maze loops you back to where you began.
Again and again,
You try different combinations of turns,
Only to be met with the same result,
An endless cycle leading back to the start.
Once again,
Frustration begins to creep in.
Your energy drains,
And your once light steps now feel heavy.
The joy you carried into the maze fades,
Replaced by the aches of exhaustion.
Your muscles burn,
And your head throbs with every turn.
You feel the sting of anger rise in your chest.
Why can't you solve this?
Why does every path bring you back to the same place?
You want to scream,
Just as you did at the shadow figure,
But something stops you.
You hear a faint whisper,
A memory of what was said before.
Stop.
And so,
You do.
You stop.
You stand still,
Letting the tension in your body melt away.
Your shoulders drop,
And you become aware of your racing heart and shallow breaths.
You realize that,
In this moment,
You are not in a state to solve anything.
Right then,
Right there,
You decide to sit down.
As you settle onto the soft ground,
You look around,
Noticing the beauty of the maze for the first time.
The tall hedges sway gently,
Their green hues vibrant and alive.
The whisper returns,
Soothing and calm,
Guiding you inward.
Stop thinking,
And feel.
You feel a gentle warmth beginning to build in your stomach,
Radiating outwards.
The sensation glows a bright yellow light,
Filling you with a sense of strength and purpose.
The whisper continues,
Stop chasing goals and seek love.
The warmth moves up to your chest,
Transforming into a glowing green light.
A deep sense of love and connection fills you,
Easing your frustration and bringing a soft smile to your face.
The whisper speaks again,
Close your eyes so you can truly see.
As you close your eyes,
You feel a light tap on your forehead,
And a brilliant indigo light floods your vision.
A wave of calm sweeps over you,
Widening your mind and opening a new kind of clarity.
Time seems to blur,
And when you open your eyes,
You're no longer where you started.
Somehow,
Without even realizing it,
You've arrived at the center of the maze.
The sun has dipped lower in the sky,
Casting warm golden light over the space.
You're unsure how long you've been here,
Or how you got here,
But you feel calm,
Lighter,
As if something has shifted within you.
You take in your surroundings,
Noticing the intricate beauty of the maze's center.
The space feels sacred,
Peaceful,
Like it's been waiting for you all along.
And then you see it,
A column of golden light at the center of the clearing.
It draws you in,
Its glow warm and inviting.
In the center of the light,
You see the figure again,
The shadow,
But this time it's not a dark silhouette.
This is a vibrant being of light,
Alive with color and energy,
And they resemble you.
They smile warmly,
And you feel yourself smiling back.
The figure steps forward,
Speaking softly,
Yet with great power.
I am the ego,
Your connection to the divine.
They gesture for you to sit down and join them in meditation.
They continue,
Please have a seat and make yourself comfortable.
Let's take a moment to connect with your present space.
Look around you and take note of something you can see.
Now notice something you can smell.
Something you can feel.
And finally,
Something you can hear.
With each observation,
Allow yourself to become more grounded in this moment.
Now close your eyes as I guide your breath.
Shifting your focus from your physical space to a space within.
Inhale deeply as I count to five.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five.
Now exhale slowly.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five.
Again,
Inhale,
Exhale.
With each inhale,
Feel yourself letting go of your surroundings.
With each exhale,
Bring your focus inward,
Centering yourself.
Inhale,
Feel the cool air entering your lungs.
Exhale,
Notice your body beginning to relax.
Inhale,
And take note of the stillness between breaths.
Exhale,
And feel yourself settling into peace.
Now,
Imagine a gentle tap on your forehead.
As you feel this sensation,
A brilliant indigo light fills your vision,
Spreading throughout your body with waves of calm and clarity.
You feel yourself begin to rise,
Floating upward,
Gently and effortlessly.
Below,
You can see yourself sitting in the center of the maze.
As you float higher,
More of the maze comes into view.
It stretches endlessly,
Its intricate paths winding in all directions.
You marvel at how massive it is,
With more turns than you could have even imagined.
You think back on your journey,
Remembering how overwhelming it felt at the start.
So many options,
So many decisions.
It's no wonder it was so difficult.
But then you recall the moment everything changed,
When you stopped chasing and simply listened.
You remember how effortless it became,
When you trusted your gut and let love guide you.
As this memory comes into focus,
You watch yourself down below at the entrance of the maze.
You recognize this as the moment you closed your eyes and felt that initial tap on your forehead.
Something incredible happens.
You watch as a golden path begins to appear,
Winding through the maze.
It's clear and undeniable,
Lighting the way forward.
This is the path that guided you when you followed your heart,
When you let go of striving and embraced the joy of simply being.
Watching yourself effortlessly glide through each turn,
You feel a deep sense of encouragement and inspiration.
You weren't searching aimlessly.
You were going with the flow,
Letting intuition guide you.
You weren't looking for answers outside of yourself.
You were finding them within.
As you reflect on this,
A wave of love,
Joy,
And peace washes over you,
Filling every part of your being.
Slowly,
Your consciousness begins to descend back down to your body,
With a clear understanding of how you ended up in the center of the maze.
When you return to your body,
You feel grounded and renewed.
The ego speaks once more,
Leaving you with these parting words.
Remember,
When you feel stuck,
Lost,
Or in search of answers,
Stop and go within.
Focus on your breath.
Let go of distractions.
I am your connection to the divine.
And when you go within,
I will ensure inspiration flows like water.
As the ego disappears into the golden column of light,
You reflect on their words.
You think back to all the times inspiration has struck you in the past,
Those seemingly random moments when ideas seemed to come out of nowhere.
But now,
You realize they weren't random at all.
They came when you were quiet,
Still,
And open enough to notice them.
You smile,
Recalling the ideas and solutions that came to you in the shower,
As if they were flowing with the water from your divine connection.
You feel confident knowing the answers are always within reach,
As long as you take the time to pause and allow them to flow.
As you bask in this feeling of abundance and joy,
It's time to begin bringing your awareness back to your current space.
Take a deep breath and listen for the sounds around you.
Notice any sense in your space.
Feel the surfaces around you,
The chair you're sitting on,
The ground beneath you.
When you're ready,
Take another deep breath and slowly open your eyes.
Let them adjust,
And as you look around,
Take note of something you can see.
Feel yourself fully present in this moment,
Carrying the inspiration and clarity you've gained with you as you go about your day.
Thank you for taking the time to pause,
Reflect,
And journey inward.
Be well.
