The Light Within There is a light within you that was never meant to be hidden.
It was placed in you quietly like a seed beneath the soil,
Patiently knowing.
This light does not ask permission to shine.
It remembers exactly who you are,
Even when you forget it glows in the dark.
Today we listen for that light.
Today we welcome home.
Welcome.
My name is Carly from the Zen Lotus,
Here in the Highlands of Scotland.
This meditation is an invitation into self-care,
Because self-care is how you take your power back.
And when we feel empowered,
The world softens.
Now please take a moment to find a comfortable position.
You may be seated or lying down.
Allowing your body to be fully supported.
And when you're ready,
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Remembering that there is nowhere else you need to be.
At this moment in time,
There is nothing else you need to do.
This time is for you.
Beginning by bringing awareness to your breath.
Not changing it yet,
Just noticing.
Notice where you feel the breath most clearly.
Perhaps at the nose,
The chest or the belly.
Now let's begin to breathe with intention.
We will inhale for four,
And then we will pause.
And then we will exhale for a count of six.
So inhaling for four.
Feeling the breath draw in light and ease.
Pausing gently at the top.
And now exhale through the mouth for a count of six.
Releasing tension.
Releasing the day.
Releasing anything you no longer need to hold.
Again,
Inhale for four.
Hold.
And exhale for six.
Softening your shoulders,
Your jaw and your brow.
Keep breathing in.
Hold.
And out.
With every breath out,
Imagine you are laying down a burden.
And with every breath in,
You are reclaiming your energy.
Let the breath become smooth and natural.
A steady rhythm that carries you inward.
Now we gently move into a body scan.
Inviting awareness and compassion to each part of you.
Bringing your attention to the top of the head.
Notice any sensations there.
Warmth,
Tingling or stillness.
Allow the scalp to soften.
Moving your awareness now to your forehead and eyes.
Let the space between your brows relax.
And clench the jaw.
Let the tongue rest easily in the mouth.
Bringing awareness now to your neck and shoulders.
So many of us carry the weight of the world here.
If you notice tension,
Acknowledge it and invite it to gently melt away.
Allowing the breath to flow down into your chest and heart space.
Feeling the rise and fall.
Notice the steady rhythm of your heart faithfully beating for you.
Now bring awareness to your arms.
The upper arms.
The elbows.
The forearms.
The hands.
Let the hands be soft and open.
Palms receptive.
Move your attention to the belly.
This is a sacred space.
A centre of intuition,
Creation and power.
Allow the belly to rise and fall freely with the breath.
Now bring awareness to your hips and pelvis.
Feel supported.
Feel grounded.
Now the thighs.
The knees.
The calves.
The ankles.
The heels.
The feet.
And finally the toes.
Imagining roots growing from the soles of your feet deep into the earth beneath you.
Anchoring you.
Holding you steady.
Your entire body is now held in awareness,
In kindness and in safety.
Now we will do a Reiki meditation.
Imagining a soft warm light at the base of your spine.
Your root chakra.
This light is deep red,
Steady and strong.
This is your foundation.
Your sense of safety and belonging.
Silently affirm.
I am safe.
I am supported.
Let the light gently rise to your sacral chakra just below the navel.
It is a warm orange glow.
The centre of creativity,
Pleasure and flow.
Silently affirm.
I honour my feelings.
I allow myself joy.
The light moves upwards to your solar plexus.
Just at your diaphragm.
It is golden yellow like sunlight.
This is your personal power.
Your confidence.
Your sense of self.
Affirm gently.
I take my power back.
I trust myself.
Now the light rises into the heart chakra.
Just in the middle of your chest.
It is soft green.
Glowing with compassion.
This is the bridge between body and spirit.
Here you are invited to offer love.
To offer love to yourself first.
Affirm quietly.
I am worthy of love.
I am.
Let the light rise to the throat chakra.
A clear calming blue.
It is the centre of truth and expression.
Affirming gently to yourself.
My voice matters.
I speak my truth with ease.
The light now reaches the third eye.
Just between the brows.
It is indigo in colour.
Deep and wise.
This is your intuition.
Your inner knowing.
Affirm.
I trust my inner guidance.
Finally,
The light rises to the crown of the head.
It is a radiant violet.
Or a white light.
Connecting you to something much,
Much greater.
Affirm quietly and knowing.
I am connected.
I am guided.
I am light.
Imagine the light now flowing through your entire body.
From crown to feet and beyond.
A luminous presence that has always been within you.
As we rest here in the light,
I offer these words from Rumi.
Try not to resist the changes that come your way.
Instead,
Let life live through you.
And do not worry that your life seems to be turning upside down.
How do you know that the side you are used to is better than the one to come?
Let these words settle.
Let them soften any fear of change.
You are allowed to evolve.
You are allowed to become.
Begin to gently bring awareness back to your breath.
Back to your body.
Notice the surface beneath you.
Notice the room around you.
And when you're ready,
Wiggle the fingers and toes.
And gently open your eyes.
Go softly.
Shine brightly.
And never dull your light for anyone.
You are enough.
