The Power Of This Stoic Moment - With The Female Stoic
The Power Of This Stoic Moment. This short is taken from a longer session of The Female Stoic podcast. The Blue Stockings Society was an informal women's social and educational movement in England in the mid-18th century that emphasised education and mutual cooperation. It was founded in the early 1750s by Elizabeth Montagu, Elizabeth Vesey and others as a literary discussion group, a step away from traditional, non-intellectual women's activities. The Stoic approach to reaction rather than action centers on the Dichotomy of Control, which dictates that we should focus entirely on our internal responses (thoughts, judgments, and actions) while accepting external events (which we cannot control) with equanimity. The Female Stoic podcast, managing emotions, focus.

In meditations,
Marcus Aurelius says,
Everything is only for a day.
Both that which remembers and that which is remembered.
As Stoics we understand that this moment the way we react to things that are happening in this moment.
And how we choose to honour our virtue and protect our inner citadel in this moment.
All we have.
These are the only things available to us we have control over.
The external forces,
Other people's opinions,
Other people's actions,
Other things that have happened in the past and anything that might happen in the future are external to that.
We understand we have no control over them whatsoever.
