Welcome,
In this meditation we will be exploring a character in a story.
Perhaps the character is in a story that you are learning to tell aloud.
Settle in,
Notice the surface beneath you where it contacts your legs,
Your feet.
Perhaps you're laying down and you can feel the surface under your back as well.
Notice where your hands are.
Take a deep breath in and let it out slowly.
Think about a character.
The character does not have to be a human,
They could be an animal,
A plant,
Even an inanimate object.
What do you see?
Smell?
Hear?
Consider your interpretation of this character.
What is their appearance?
Do they have hair?
Leaves?
Perhaps bark?
Are they a built structure?
Ask the character in your head if it's okay with them for you to touch them.
What do they feel like to the touch if they agreed?
Can they return your touch?
Do they make any sounds?
A loud noise?
A quiet noise?
A high pitched sound or perhaps a low bass?
A buzzing or humming?
Perhaps they have a fragrance.
Is it floral?
Spicy?
Earthy?
A chemical smell?
Does it tickle your nose?
Can they see you?
Can they hear you?
If you are comfortable with it,
Ask their permission to switch spots with them.
If they agree,
Do this now.
Now that you are in the place of the character,
What are they thinking?
You can allow the thoughts to arise and move away as you would in your own meditation.
What does this character want?
What do they need?
What emotions are they feeling?
What sensations do you notice in their physical state?
Is this character alone or with others?
Others like them or others different from them?
Does this character have a story?
Spend some time being present with this character without trying to change anything,
Without any judgment.
I will speak again after holding the space for you to be present.
Be sure to keep breathing.
Now that you have spent time with this character as this character,
Switch back.
Back in your own place,
Begin to notice your own position.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes just a little bit at a time and when you are ready,
Open your eyes and begin to return your gaze to the space where you are now.
Thank the character that you have spent time with and take away what you have noticed.
May we all be safe.
May we all be well.
May we all be happy.
