Difficulty arises when our unconscious baggage is interfering in our lives.
Life would be easy if our shadows,
If our repressed stuff was seen and in the light of day.
The problem is that it's buried away and stuff which is repressed ferments.
If you get a jar and you fill it with food,
Some oats and some jam and some,
I don't know,
Protein bars,
Fill it with water,
Shake it and leave it,
It will ferment because it's closed up,
There's no air,
There's no breathing space and it will go bad,
It will go moldy,
It will smell and it won't be pleasant.
And it could even potentially ruin the whole room if the smell gets out.
This is much like our internal contents of the heart.
And if you guys have been here for a while,
You'll know that a core philosophy that I always remind you of is that you need to have breathing space in that jar.
You need to take off the lid every day and expose yourself to the contents.
Bring your air,
The breath,
Into that contents.
And what you'll find is that it doesn't ferment.
It doesn't go bad.
It doesn't ruin your life.
And you're not running away from it anymore because a large portion of life is spent running away from that stuff.
Who's found that a large part of their life has been spent running away?
Cause it was for me.
And life got better when you stopped running away.
