Welcome.
Take a moment to settle in.
Find a comfortable place to sit.
With your journal and pen.
There is nowhere you need to get to in this moment.
You don't have to write anything profound.
You don't have to find an answer.
And you certainly don't have to fix yourself.
This is simply a place.
To be with yourself.
Honestly?
Gently.
Without judgment.
Journaling is a slow process.
It isn't a quick fix.
One page won't necessarily change everything.
One question won't suddenly give you all the answers.
And that's okay.
Sometimes,
The purpose of journaling isn't to solve something.
Sometimes it's simply to give what you're carrying.
Somewhere to go.
So today we are exploring something many of us know very well which is being hard on ourselves.
Think about a moment recently when you were disappointed in yourself.
Maybe you made a mistake.
Maybe you didn't show up the way you wanted to.
Maybe something didn't work out.
Maybe you're questioning a decision you have made.
Or maybe you're simply feeling like you should further be ahead by now.
Don't choose the biggest or the most painful thing.
Just choose something that feels present.
Now,
Write this down.
What am I being hard on myself about right now?
Take your time.
Let the words come.
They don't have to make sense.
They don't have to sound beautiful.
Just let them be honest.
I'm right here.
Giving you a minute to process and write.
Yeah.
Bye.
Now look at what you have written.
And ask yourself.
What am I telling myself about the situation?
Maybe.
It's,
I should have known better.
I always do this.
I am falling behind.
I should be stronger.
I should have handled it differently.
Whatever your words are,
Write them down.
I'm right here giving you a minute to process and write.
Now,
Without trying to change those thoughts,
Ask yourself something different.
Would I speak to someone I love the way I'm speaking to myself?
Don't judge your answer,
Just notice.
Now,
Imagine that someone you deeply care about came to you with exactly what you have written.
They made the same mistake.
They felt the same disappointment.
They were carrying the same shame.
What would you say to them?
Write that down.
Not what you think you should say.
What you would genuinely say if they wanted to feel safe with you.
Giving you a minute and a half.
To write it down.
I'm right here.
Now I want you to read those words again.
And notice something.
The compassion you can offer to other person.
If it's also something you're allowed to offer to yourself.
That doesn't mean that you have to excuse everything.
It doesn't mean mistakes don't matter.
It doesn't mean you don't take responsibility.
It simply means that responsibility doesn't have to come with cruelty.
You can say,
I made a mistake and also I'm not mistaken.
You can also say,
I wish I had done things differently.
And also I can learn from this.
You can acknowledge where you need to grow without making yourself feel small for needing to grow.
Take a moment now and write.
What would being gentle with yourself look like today?
Maybe it's apologizing.
Maybe it's resting.
Maybe it's trying again.
Maybe it's letting someone go or something go.
Maybe it's asking for help.
Maybe it's simply stopping the conversation in your head.
That keeps banishing you.
There is no right answer.
I'm right here.
I'm giving you a minute to process and write it.
Before we go to the last question.
Well.
And the last question.
Don't rush this one.
And the question is what do I need to remember about myself right now?
Let yourself answer slowly.
Take two minutes,
Probably if you want you can pause my audio.
Write it properly.
And once you have written,
Read it again.
Giving a minute for you to process and write.
I'm right here with you.
Peace.
You may not have solved anything today,
And you don't need to.
Because journaling isn't about getting everything right in one sitting.
It's about creating a relationship with yourself.
A relationship where you can come back again and again.
And listen.
And write and pause.
Some things will take time.
Some answers will come tomorrow.
Some may take some weeks.
And some questions may change completely as you do.
That's the part of the process.
So don't measure today's journaling by how much you figured out.
Maybe today was simply about noticing.
Maybe it was about telling the truth.
Maybe it was about giving yourself 5 quiet minutes without judgement.
And guess what?
That counts too.
Before you close your journal,
Take one final look at what you have written.
Find one sentence that you want to carry with you.
Circle it.
Highlight it.
And then take a deep breath.
You don't have to become a different person overnight.
You don't have to do anything to get it figured out.
You can simply begin by being a little gentle.
With the person you already are.
Take your time.
And close your journal whenever you are ready.
And remember.
You're allowed to grow without being at war with yourself.
