Wallace Staines

Wallace had his first panic attack at four years old. He’s been curious about the human mind ever since—how it works, why it does what it does, and why it occasionally seems determined to make everything more complicated than necessary. Through therapy, meditation, Buddhism, spirituality, and firsthand experience, Wallace has spent decades learning how to sit with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings without immediately trying to wrestle them into submission. He believes meditation doesn’t have to be solemn, mystical, or painfully serious. Sometimes we need to breathe. Sometimes we need to get quiet. And sometimes we need to laugh at the nonsense our minds come up with. Wallace is passionate about self-discovery, kindness, and encouragement. He believes compassion and love are strengths, not weaknesses, and that learning to acknowledge and express our feelings—especially to ourselves—is essential. He has been with his husband since 2002 and has learned plenty about love, loss, patience, connection, and the beautiful messiness of life. A lifelong musician, gymnastics judge, and coach, Wallace brings creativity, observation, guidance, and communication to his meditation practice. His work is grounded in mindfulness and informed by the Plum Village Tradition. His guided meditations combine mindfulness, self-inquiry, compassion, curiosity, and humor. Because being human is weird. We might as well learn how to do it with a little more kindness—and a laugh along the way.
