Ahead of this meditation,
You might like to find and look at a photograph of yourself as a young girl,
Maybe around the time you got your first period.
This in itself can be a wonderful way to connect with your daughter and this time in her life.
Also,
Please make sure you have a journal or some paper and something to write with nearby.
Lie down on your back.
And find a comfortable position.
You might like to have your feet flat on the floor.
You can allow your knees to fall in for a nice neutral position or you might prefer to place your feet together and allow your knees to fall out to the sides.
You can place a block or bolster or blanket underneath your knees for comfort and support.
You may prefer to have your legs stretched out long.
Take a little bit of time now to get comfortable so that you can stay quiet and still during the meditation.
Once you've found the position that works for you,
Lift your hands so that you can see them and place your pointer fingers and thumbs together to create a triangle.
Now lay this shape onto your lower belly,
Just beneath your belly button.
Your index fingers pointing down,
And your thumbs sitting across your lower belly,
Meeting in the middle.
Gently placing your hands over your womb space.
Close your eyes.
And begin to focus on your breath.
Inhaling and exhaling through your nose if that feels good.
Listening for the sound of your breath.
Noticing the rise and fall of your body with your breath.
As the air enters and leaves your body.
Feeling the gentle waves of your breath as it washes through your body.
Inhaling.
And exhaling.
Nothing forced,
No effort required.
Just as slowing down.
And noticing.
Long,
Deep inhales.
Long,
Slow exhales.
Gently moving your attention to the space behind your hands now.
Feeling the rise and fall of your lower belly with your breath.
Breathing into your hands.
Breathing into your womb space.
Feeling the expansion as you inhale.
And the gentle wave of your exhale.
With your next inhale,
Picturing a glowing orb of light in this space behind your hands.
A light that expands and brightens with your inhale.
And then dims and contracts with your exhale.
Perhaps this glowing orb of light has a color.
Maybe pink.
Red or orange.
Watch as these glowing colors gently expand,
Growing brighter and clearer with each inhale.
And retreating to a soft translucence with your exhale.
Breathing down into this space now.
Into this light.
Sending love down through your body and into your womb.
Filling it with love and tenderness and light.
As we allow ourselves to stay here.
Taking our sweet time.
Tending to this precious part of our body.
The centre and source of our power.
Our creativity.
Our insight.
This beautiful,
Expansive,
Glowing light grows inside us with every inhale.
And gently recedes as we exhale.
Tenderly now,
Allowing your mind to relax.
To return to yourself as a young girl.
Around the time when your very first bleed arrived.
Slowly.
Compassionately.
Begin to notice.
Where are you?
What's happening?
How do you feel?
Taking your time to slowly explore.
Gently allowing whatever needs to surface to bubble up.
Allowing yourself to feel into this.
Whatever you're feeling,
It's okay.
You can give that little girl whatever it is that she needs.
Maybe it's simply love.
Maybe a heartfelt hug.
Maybe it's a sense of celebration.
Or maybe it's something more practical.
Information.
Understanding.
Power.
What is it?
That you most want to give yourself.
Once you have it.
And give it.
Whatever you need.
Pour it in with love.
Give yourself whatever it is that you need.
Let her know.
That she's safe and loved and important.
And that you've got her.
Give her everything that she needs.
When you're ready.
Very slowly.
Coming back.
To the space beneath your hands now.
Allowing the warm glowing light there.
To expand up.
And out.
In beautiful,
Nourishing rays until it fills your whole body.
There is so much light that it spills out of you.
Expanding in rays from your fingers,
From the crown of your head,
From your torso.
And from the soles of your feet.
Allow it to nourish you.
Rediscovering the sensation of your breath now.
The gentle rise and fall.
As you inhale.
And exhale.
Noticing the sensation of the air coming in and out of your nose.
Resting a moment longer here with your attention inward and your eyes closed.
As you simply inhale.
And exhale.
Slowly Gently.
Coming back into the rest of your body now.
Feeling your body on the floor beneath you.
Slowly,
Gently returning to the room.
Becoming aware of your fingers,
Your toes.
Perhaps beginning to move them.
Taking a deep inhale and releasing your hands to give your belly and torso a loving stroke.
Maybe taking a moment to stretch your whole body out before slowly,
Gently making your way onto your side.
Pausing here.
Before slowly making your way up to a comfortable seat and gently opening your eyes.
Reaching for your journal and pen.
Take a few minutes now.
To write down anything you want to about your experience.
Perhaps some words about what you remembered and what you really needed most of all around the time of your first bleed.
And also ask yourself,
How do I want my daughter to feel when her first bleed arrives?
As you write.
Try to distill this down to just a few words.
And then finally,
Choose one word that feels the most important to you.
Pause this recording here and take your time to journal.
No rush.
Come back and press play again when you finish writing for one final step in this process.
Welcome back.
My hope is that you have now landed on a single word that reflects how you want your daughter to feel as she moves towards and through this major life transition.
