Tonight,
I'm going to tell you a story that takes place in a world where spirits live when they travel between lifetimes.
If you like the idea of a fantasy world and the afterlife,

Its name is Sapphire,
And tonight's story takes place in one of its oceans.

Let's settle into bed.
And get comfortable.
Find a comfortable position under your blankets and give yourself a big hug,
Squeezing your shoulders.
Then rest your arms and close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in.
And let it out.
Wiggle your feet,
Clench your hands,
Stretch your legs or your arms.
Whatever it is that gets you into your body.
And let it all rest and soften.
Now follow my voice as I tell you the story of Micah and the Water Elementalists.
In Sapphire,
The four elements of water,
Fire,
Earth,
And air play a big role in keeping our spirits lifted.
But there are some who gravitate much more to one of these elements than the others.
They're known as the Elementalists.
They are spirits whose abilities become enhanced by the elements and what they represent.
Water being the embodiment of intuition,
Emotions,
Creativity,
And healing.
Fire embodies ideas,
Passions,
Instincts,
And action.
Earth embodies stability,
Nourishment,
Abundance,
And the physical.
And air embodies knowledge,
Perception.
Communication.
And imagination.
For Elementalists.
Much of their life consists of finding those who understand their strong connection to one of the elements.
They often live life in a place that reflects this.
I've personally never met an elementalist because they're not very open to leaving their hometowns.
This story follows a young soul who did.
And because of that.
We have the healing waters on the island.
His name was Micah.
And he lived among the Air Elementalists,
Up in the sky.
Far above the clouds.
Micah's spirit lived many lives.
That tested the nature of his logic and insight.
So it was no surprise that he incarnated here with the Air Elementalists.
He loved to learn about the nature of sapphire.
And those who visited as well.
But for some reason.

.
He felt like something was missing.
When he visited the Temple of the Seven Wisdoms in the Mora Forest.
He discovered his ability of song.
Being naturally soft-spoken.
Hearing his real voice for the first time caught him by surprise.
When he sang,
The entire forest could feel it.
Birds were chiming along in the branches of old cedar trees that rustled their leaves to a melody.
Micah never felt the rhythm of the world around him until he began to sing.
He could feel the heartbeat of the land move up through the soles of his feet.
And the whispers of the winds that carried his cluttered thoughts away.
Being in that forest brought him.
A newfound love of life.
But as he returned to the Air Elementalists,
His voice cracked.
He couldn't sing at all.
Micah tried many times to show his power to his family and friends.
But it never came out the way it first did.
They thought he was lying.
Because they had all found their abilities so quickly.
I never had issues showing them off or stepping into their power like he was.
With a cracked voice and a bruised ego.
Micah turned to the moon one night.
For guidance.
Hoping he could reconnect with his voice.
He sat on the edge of the sky city.
With his feet hanging off the cliff.
Gently tapping his heels to the ground.
He started humming to himself.
Some kind of melody that came from what felt like a deep dream.
As he began to hum this melody.
He could hear it.
At going back to him from below.
Far past the clouds.
That night.
Micah followed this melody in a dream of the ocean.
A ringing voice repeated this melody.
Soft.
Fluid.
And distant.
It was hard to figure out where this voice was calling from.
But it was the only thing that could capture his attention.
Maika tried to follow this voice.
But it wasn't clear which way he should go.
Learning to move through water wasn't as natural as moving through the air.
Though he tried to picture himself flying.
It felt like the water was actively moving against him.
Still.
He tried to navigate the ocean.
It wasn't what the Air Elementalists thought at all.
They believed the ocean was intoxicated with dark and disgusting creatures.
That it would smell terrible,
And that any air elementalist who traveled would drown.
As Micah explored further.
He learned he didn't need to hold his breath like so many others learned to do.
And so he cried,
Deeply,
For the first time.
Something as simple as breathing was robbed of them here.
Only because of rumors.
Handed down by generations.
He could finally feel the weight of his spirit's breath leave his body in tears he'd long held back.
Tears filled with unconscious memories,
Released into the ocean around him.
And as he let it all out,
He felt himself getting lighter.
The voice in the distance became muffled until it was no longer audible.
Still,
He tried to look for it.
Micah swam deeper.
Into the darkest hues of blue and green.
Where he wouldn't be able to tell his surroundings.
All he knew.
Was that he had to find this muffled voice.
As he swam further,
Grazing long strings of seaweed and bull kelp along the way,
He started to lose motivation.
Was dark and uncertain.
And he started to get nervous,
Wondering why he tried so hard to find this voice.
Was it luring him away on purpose?
Was this a trick that water elementalists did?
Was his family right about them all along?
Either way,
It was too late to go back.
And even now,
It didn't seem like the better option.
Deep down,
He felt this voice calling him in.
So he began to hum again.
To comfort himself.
He hummed the melody that kept playing from the back of his mind.
He could feel his vocal cords stretching and strengthening,
Moving the sounds through his body.
Slowly,
The nervousness and despair drifted away from him.
With the water in the ocean.
Swiftly.
His humming became a gentle song that cracked his heart open.
Even without words,
There was meaning in every sound he made.
Finally,
Through the darkest hues of the ocean.
Came light.
He found the civilization of the water elementalists.
The entire town was built in the form of a circle.
With big,
Flat stones,
Plating the ground for houses and shops to stand on.
They were lined up around the town center.
Where many spirits were gathered.
In the water.
The largest plate.
Standing in the center of the town.
Had a symbol on it.
It was a symbol that looked different to everyone,
But meant the same thing.
The symbol of healing.
Micah observed in awe.
The architecture of the town,
And the detailed structure of the buildings.
He knew very well that this was the work of the Earth Elementalists.
They used to build homes for the Air Elementalists as well.
They looked almost identical to the ones in the water.
The Air Elementalists didn't just stop working with water.
They stopped working with any other Elementalists long before Micah incarnated.
They were too stuck in developing their own new ideas,
Which didn't include the works of earth,
Water,
Or fire.
Micah wondered what it would be like working with other Elementalists,
Mourning the connection between them all.
In the center of the town.
They were produce vendors on the ground.
Selling anything from items to food to those who swam by.
As Micah swam through the underwater city.
He passed by other spirits who knew instinctively that he was not of this place.
He couldn't move the way they did.
Like fish in the water.
He was struggling to follow the currents of the ocean.
Flapping his arms hopelessly.
While others passed him by.
The way of the water was never judgmental or impatient with him.
These people held eye contact with such an inviting and compassionate nature.
The air elementalists would never hold eye contact for longer than a second,
Whereas Micah could stare into the beauty of the water elementalist's eyes forever.
The voice Micah heard from before,
Which mirrored his melody.
Came up again.
From behind a building whose walls were draped with seaweed.
Micah swam between the two houses and found himself at the edge of the water civilization,
Where two other spirits were standing.
Their names were Alden and Valley.
Both looked like water elementalists.
With longer feet and arms.
Alduin was shorter and slender-looking,
While Vally was twice as tall and wide as Micah.
Smiling happily at him.
They knew he was an air elementalist from the way he struggled to reposition himself,
From floating to standing on the soft,
Cool stone.
Alden and Valli welcome to MICA with open arms.
And asked him how an Air Elementalist could find this place.
Micah explained that moving through dark and unsettling waters was a very unnatural thing for an air elementalist to do.
They prefer to see everything before moving forward.
When Micah told Alden and Valli about the voice he'd heard.
They immediately sought to help him.
They too could hear this voice.
It was the healing call of the ocean.
It was what the water elementalists praised any time they could hear it calling them.
But this voice wasn't always there.
It seemed with the rise of the Nevadans journey.
That the voice was harder to connect to.
It was either redirected somewhere else,
The moment one could feel its healing,
Or it was muffled by the Nevadan.
Micah wanted badly to help the water elementalists.
Knowing that just feeling the healing call brought him to tears.
Aldzin and Vali were already trying to find ways to work with the healing,
But their abilities weren't enough.
Alden was able to sense from miles away where they needed healing.
You could hear or feel if someone was seeking help.
Valley could manipulate the currents of water.
And create streams and riptides from the energy between her palms.
When Micah told them of his voice.
They knew that he could help them.
At first,
He was reluctant to sing.
The last time he tried,
His voice cracked.
How would this be any different?
As if he knew he was feeling this.
Alden encouraged Micah to feel the voice come up from within him.
And as he did,
He began to hum.
The humming rippled through his heart,
Out to Alden and Valley.
It turned into song once more,
And just as Micah could hear the call of the ocean returning to him.
He woke up from his sleep back in the sky.
Frustrated and upset.
Micah stormed out of his room.
And out of the house where he could sit on the edge of the land.
It was just a dream.
The voice.
The water elementalists.
Alden and Valley.
But it felt so real.
He could still taste the salt water in his mouth.
And feel the ocean holding him in space.
When he told the Air Elementalists of his journey,
They told him that the Water Elementalists were no longer there.
That long,
Long ago.
They were destroyed by the Nevadan.
Micah refused to believe this.
He had to go back.
He had to see for himself.
But the only way he knew of getting to the water was from the ground below.
And the only person he could ask to fly him down.
Was his sibling,
Zeke.
Zeke was the type of person.
Would question and judge any idea of Micah's.
But he was also very trusting with the secret.
So when Micah asked Zeke to bring him to the ground without question,
Yeah,
Great.
Zeke thought Micah wanted another chance with the Temple of the Seven Wisdoms to reconnect with his powers.
But as soon as they got to land.
.
.
Micah went off into the ocean.
He ignored Zeke's calls of worry and fear and dove deep.
Breathing in the energy of the ocean as soon as he did.
Even if he found nothing in his awakened state.
He was happy that he could still breathe underwater.
Zeke did not follow him.
And though he'd hoped maybe his brother could see this place.
He knew Zeke wasn't ready to challenge the beliefs the Air Elementalists had of the water.
Maybe one day he would let the weight of his spirit's breath leave his body too.
As Micah carried deeper into the ocean.
He was relieved to find the underwater city once again,
But only for a split second until he realized it wasn't the same.
The soft,
Stone-plated ground had been cracked open right down the center.
The healing symbol was replaced by a gaping hole.
The town itself looked deserted.
Micah reluctantly floated around,
Searching for his friends.
They had to be there.
As he reached the hole in the center of the city.
All he could see was a faint red glow.
From the very bottom.
Anxious,
He backed away from it.
And tried searching through the town again.
He revisited the spot where he first found Alden and Valley,
But they weren't there anymore.
Micah was uncertain of what to do.
But he knew that if he could stand strong on his own,
That something would soon become clearer to him.
So he swam back to the hole in the ground.
And pulled from a place of confidence and purpose.
That he was supposed to be here.
He hummed the melody he knew so well now.
Feeling it in his body.
Calling in the love he felt when he first looked into the eyes of the strangers swimming by.
And that's when he heard the call of the ocean once more.
Coming from deep beneath the surface.
The red glow soon turned to a soft magenta.
And began to raise up.
Emanating that same voice.
As the call of the ocean found Micah.
He opened his heart again.
And the magenta-colored light.
Wrapped him in a warm,
Gentle embrace.
He continued to sing.
And sing again.
Until one by one.
The people of the ocean emerged from their homes.
Encircled him.
They all knew the song.
And neither of them heard it for a long,
Long time.
Everyone joined in and sang in harmony with the glow that grew bigger and bigger all around them.
Emerging from the crowd were Alden and Valley.
Excited to find Micah once more.
They were much older,
Having aged just as everyone else did.
But the healing brought youth into their eyes again.
Alden and Vali remembered Micah and discussed that they have been waiting for him to join them all this time.
That his voice could create a path for the call of the ocean to travel.
Together.
Micah,
Alden,
And Valley.
Created what we now know as the healing water system.
Micah and Valli combine their abilities to bring structure to the healing call.
And Alden would bring direction to it.
Eventually,
They found Alcon Island.
And created the healing waters for everyone,
Elementalist or not,
To access the healing waters when they were brave enough to release the weight of their spirit's breath.
Of course,
They eventually left Sapphire,
Long before the seal was created.
Leaving this healing system behind to last forever.
Sometimes,
If you'd listen hard enough.
You might be able to hear the oceans call yourself.
So I know that was a long story.
And I hope you enjoyed it.
It really is beautiful to know how we could all work together in Sapphire.
Or any world,
Really.
