The Call Of The Valley
by Marco Bini
Some sounds seem to come from far away, and the mind follows them outward. This is that kind of listening: a slow movement in four-four time, unhurried almost to stillness, carried by English horns and low brass across an immense mountain valley opening onto the plains below. Twelve and a half minutes in which nothing is asked of the listener but to let the breath lengthen. The brass voices rise and hold, spacious and warm, leaving room between each phrase so the attention is never crowded. In that openness, the day's concerns begin to lose their edges, thinning out, growing rarefied, until they no longer press. This is the principle at the heart of the Opticognitivex tradition: not to fight tension but to let it disperse, the way mist clears from a valley as the light changes. Suited to a pause in the working day, to slow breathing, or to a moment of recovery when the mind needs to widen and settle. Composed by Rimauri. Supported by sound research and integrative medicine.
