The Sovereign Sun: A Summer Solstice Journey

The solstice is not a moment of arrival. It is a moment of fullness that already knows it cannot hold. The light is at its peak — and the turn has already begun.

This is a guided shamanic journey to the upper world, carried by voice and drum. You'll rise from a place in nature that you know, pass through the membrane into the world above, and meet a being of light — a guide, the sun in whatever form it chooses to take. You'll carry one question with you: Show me how to shine without dimming myself.

No experience is needed. Settle somewhere you won't be disturbed, lie down or sit, and let the drum carry you. Not for use while driving.

This is a guided journey to the upper world. A place of light. And of the guides who live there. If you have never journeyed before. There's nothing to learn first. My voice and the drum will carry you. Your work is only to follow and to trust what comes. Settle somewhere you won't be disturbed. Lie down or sit, Whatever lets you rest. This isn't a journey for when you were driving. Or doing anything that needs your eyes and hands. Give yourself these few minutes fully. Today is the summer solstice. The longest day. The light is at its height. And from here it begins to slow turn back toward the dark. We are not here to celebrate it or to grieve it. We are here to stand in it. We will carry one question up with us. I'll offer to you when we arrive. When you're ready. Let your eyes close. Let your breath slow and deepen. Feel the warmth. Reaching your skin. The light of this longest day. Finding you wherever you are. Let yourself be something the light can reach. In your mind's eye. Find yourself in a place in nature that you know. A place where you feel safe. Might be familiar. Where it might come to you now for the first time. Take it in. The ground beneath you. The air. Polite. Somewhere in this place there is a way up. It might be a tree tall enough to climb beyond the clouds. Abound. Column up smoke. A shaft of sunlight. A bird who has come to carry you. But it show itself. When you find it, Begin to rise. Rise. Up through the branches. Up the slope. Up the like. Past the tops of the trees. Past the birds. Up beyond the clouds. And as you rise, You come to a membrane. A thin veil between this world and the one above. You may feel it as a shimmer. A pressure. Assort this. Pass through it. You are entering the upper world now. On the other side, The light is different. There may be more than one sun. Let yourself arrive. Let your eyes adjust. Somewhere in this place. Something is waiting to meet you. A being of light. Guide. The sun in whatever form it chooses to take. Let it come to you. Don't decide what it should be. Let it be what it is. And when you are with it. Here's the question to carry. Show me how to shine without dimming myself. If your own question rises underneath it. Let that come to you. And listen. What? Receive whatever comes. Whatever you are receiving. Let it complete. If there's something to be given to you. Receive it now. If there's something still to be said. Say it now. Begin to thank your God. You can return. What you have received goes with you. Find your way back to the membrane. Pass back through it. Begin to descend. The same way you came up. Down through the clouds. Down toward the place where you began. Back to the Earth. Back to your body. Take your time. Wiggle your fingers. Your toes. Feel the surface beneath you. And when you're ready. Only when you're ready. Let your eyes open. What you received is yours. There's nothing you need to make of it right now. If it helps. Write it down. The image. The feeling. The words. Before it slips away. Or simply rest here for a moment longer. The light turns to night. Whether any of us is ready. That was never ours to hold. What is ours is only what we carry. Take what you received into the days that shorten from here.
