So here's the truth we need to talk about a bit more.
Actual laziness should feel good.
Because true laziness is actually a luxury.
It's a conscious,
Guilt-free choice to rest.
When you intentionally choose to do nothing,
Your body ends up relaxing,
Your mind goes on vacation,
And you get to enjoy that pure comfort without having any traces of shame.
And that's because true laziness brings peace,
Because your mind and your body are fully aligned in actually wanting to rest.
Procrastination,
On the other hand,
Feels like the complete opposite of that.
It's extremely exhausting.
It's sitting in front of a project,
Paralyzed,
Piling guilt on top of yourself,
While your central nervous system is in complete overdrive.
Clinically speaking,
Procrastination rarely happens because you don't care.
It actually almost always happens when a task is deeply meaningful to you and you care too much.
When you find yourself completely stuck,
It usually boils down to two things.
Either high anxiety about your work not being good enough,
Or genuine confusion about what the actual first step needs to be to start the project.
When you're terrified of failing or feeling completely overwhelmed by a massive undertaking,
Willing yourself to work or beating yourself up is not going to help.
In fact,
It's just going to end up adding stress and guilt,
Which only makes your brain want to protect you further by freezing you even more.
So the next time you find yourself stuck,
Stop calling yourself lazy and recognize the central nervous system paralysis for what it actually is.
Because we can spend so much time berating ourselves for procrastinating and telling ourselves that we should be doing better,
When actually procrastination doesn't mean you are lazy.
Because like I said earlier,
True laziness should feel really good.
People do not procrastinate purposefully.
They procrastinate because there's something underlying within them that's causing them to feel stuck.
So,
Rather enjoy your laziness,
Guilt-free,
It should feel good.
And instead focus on breaking down the steps you need to take to help you to heal through your procrastination.
I know you can do it.
You're not alone.
