Namaste,
This is Arunendra wishing you all a very very happy Ganesh Chaturthi.
Welcome you all in today's meditation practice,
The Wisdom of Ganesha.
When we think of Ganesha we often see the beautiful elephant-headed form.
But have you ever wondered why Ganesha is shown this way?
Every part of Ganesha carries a message.
And perhaps These messages are not only about spirituality.
They are also lessons for how we can move through our own lives.
The elephant head.
Reminds us of wisdom.
Elephant is powerful.
But it is also calm and grounded.
Ganesha reminds us that real strength.
Doesn't always mean reacting.
Sometimes strength is pausing.
Taking a breath.
And choosing our response with wisdom.
The large ears.
Remind us to listen.
We spend so much of our lives listening to the world around us.
But how often do we really listen to ourselves?
Our intuitions,
Our needs,
Our inner voice.
Sometimes the answer we are looking for is already within us.
We just need to become quiet enough.
To hear it.
The small eyes remind us to focus.
Our attention can easily move in a hundred directions.
What happened yesterday?
What will happen tomorrow?
What is everyone else doing?
Ganesha's eyes remind us to come back.
To what is right in front of us.
One moment.
One breath.
One step.
The trunk reminds us to be flexible.
The elephant's trunk.
Is incredibly strong.
But it is also gentle and flexible.
And life asks the same from us.
There are moments when we need strength.
And there are moments when we need to bend.
To adapt.
And let go of how we thought things should happen.
Being flexible doesn't make us weak.
Sometimes.
It is what allows us to keep moving forward.
And then there is something beautiful.
Ganesha's tiny mouth.
A huge elephant.
With a tiny mouse.
As its vehicle.
The mouse represents the restless jumping mind.
The endless thoughts.
The desires.
The fears that can sometimes become bigger than they really are.
And Ganesha sits above the mouse.
Perhaps reminding us,
Don't let your restless mind drive your life.
You can observe your thoughts.
Without allowing every thought to control you.
And this brings us back to one of the most beautiful meanings associated with Ganesha.
The remover of obstacles.
Maybe removing obstacles doesn't always mean that life becomes easy.
Sometimes the obstacle is fear.
And we find courage.
Sometimes it is confusion.
And we find clarity.
Sometime it is attachment.
And we learn to let go.
And sometimes the biggest obstacle is simply believing that we cannot begin again.
So as we celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi,
Perhaps we can ask ourselves.
One simple question.
What am I ready to release?
Maybe there is something you have been carrying for too long.
Of fears.
A regret.
An old belief.
A habit.
Or simply a version of yourself that you have outgrown.
You don't have to let go of everything today.
Just begin with one thing.
Take a deep breathe in.
As you breathe out.
Imagine making a little more space for the new.
May the wisdom of Ganesha remind us to listen deeply.
To focus on what matters.
To stay flexible.
And to quiet the restless mind.
And may we have the courage to clear our path and begin again.
Om Ganeshaya Namaha.
May your path be clear.
May your heart be light.
And may your next step be filled with possibilities.
Thank you so much everybody.
