Hi there,
Teacher friend.
If you came right from listening to my talk about energy protection,
Great.
That gives you some good background for this practice.
If you found this meditation first,
That's perfectly okay too.
You can always listen to my protect your energy at school talk later if you'd like more context about how this practice works.
Either way,
Thank you so much for taking this time to show up for yourself.
The simple truth is this.
If your energy can be drained at school,
Then that means it can also be restored.
And that's awesome news!
There are plenty of things during the school day that we can't control.
But being in charge of your own energy is something you actually can control.
You truly do have the power to hold,
Protect,
And even strengthen your own inner light.
So adjust in your seat until you feel even a bit more comfortable.
And let's start with the breath.
Take a slow,
Gentle inhale in through your nose.
And a long,
Easy exhale through your mouth.
Again,
Inhale,
Letting your chest rise softly.
And exhale,
Letting your shoulders drop just a bit.
Notice yourself starting to settle in.
Now bring your attention toward your own body.
To a place deep in your chest or belly where your energy lives.
Place that fuels your creativity.
Your compassion,
Your drive.
There's no need to second guess about where the place is in your body.
Just feel it.
Imagine that this inner space is warm and steady,
Like a soft glowing light.
On your next breath,
Picture that light becoming a shade brighter.
And settling into a calm glow.
Now we'll practice with the bubble visualization.
Imagine a large iridescent soap bubble.
Gently forming around you.
Around your head.
Shoulders.
Torso,
All the way to your feet.
It's clear.
Thin and luminous.
Shimmering with colors that feel cozy and safe.
This bubble is flexible and breathable.
Nothing about it is rigid or confining.
As it settles around you,
Notice that you are completely surrounded by this soft,
Protective space.
Also notice that your hands and arms can extend outside of the bubble.
Your hands and arms out is intentional.
These are the parts of you that reach outward to teach and guide students each day.
They help you interact with the world.
And everything inside the bubble,
Your heart,
Your thoughts,
Your energy stays protected.
They belong to you.
Take another easy breath.
Now take a moment to envision yourself moving through your school day inside this iridescent bubble.
Imagine yourself walking into your classroom.
Talking with students,
Listening to a colleague.
Doing all the things you do so well.
Notice that your care and compassion is still available.
Yet your energy stays contained instead of leaking out.
It circulates within you and replenishes itself.
You're not absorbing everyone else's emotions.
Your inner glowing light can stay more steady.
Now imagine a moment or event of the day that can typically cause you to feel drained.
Picture it happening again,
But this time you are inside your bubble.
See how your energy stays with you.
You can still care deeply without taking on what isn't yours.
You have a calmer,
Grounded presence.
When the bubble gets stretched too far or even pops,
Simply rebuild it with your next breath.
Intend it back into existence.
You are the creator of this space.
You can return to it anytime.
Between classes.
Before a meeting.
In your car.
One intentional breath is all it takes.
Remember the power of your own mind.
Now let's take a final grounding breath together.
Allow your bubble to glow brightly.
Whenever you'd like to come back to this practice to restore and protect your energy,
I'll be right here.
You deserve to teach and live from a place of fullness.
