Take a moment to arrive here,
Right where you are.
Close your eyes and place one or both hands on your heart.
If you're carrying grief right now for a person,
For a loss,
For the state of the world,
For something you hoped would be different,
I want you to know that your grief is not a burden.
It is love with nowhere to go,
And it needs to move.
As you inhale,
Give your grief permission to be exactly what it is.
Don't push it down.
Don't apologize for it.
Let it rise into your chest,
Into your throat,
Into the fullness of this breath.
And as you exhale,
Let it go.
Not forever.
Not all of it.
Just this one breath's worth.
Release it slowly,
Completely,
With love,
Letting it leave your body on the out-breath like smoke dissolving into open air.
You don't have to be done grieving to feel relief.
You just have to let a little out at a time.
As you inhale once more,
Breathe in gentleness for yourself,
For your tender heart,
For the courage it takes to feel this deeply in a world this challenging.
As you exhale,
Let a little more of that grief release and a little more love in.
Grief is the proof of how much you have loved.
Honor it,
And then breath by breath,
Let it move.
I'm sending you so much love.
