Today I decided to switch up my morning walk.
I wasn't very creative.
I just went backwards.
I head it out at the same time as usual.
But I started walking in the direction that I usually come back home from.
And it was amazing.
I saw all the trees from the other side.
They were the same trees.
But going this way,
They were all completely different.
The sun was coming through at a different angle on leaves and branches I'd never seen.
The shading and the light was all different,
But they were the same trees.
There were even a couple of squirrel's nests that I couldn't have seen from the normal way.
Tiny purple flowers showed up that I had never noticed before because the slope of the sidewalk going this way And because for some reason,
I decided to flip it.
To go the opposite way I usually go,
I was able to see new beautiful things that I had been missing.
And I thought.
I'm sure this can be used for some deep,
Meaningful metaphor.
So I thought it through.
This is what I came up with.
Seeing things literally in a different light,
From a different perspective.
And I don't just mean looking at something from another person's point of view,
But simply making an adjustment in our viewfinder.
And open up entirely new,
Beautiful angles.
Things we had never been able to see or appreciate before become visible.
When we're able and willing to do that.
Come at things from a different direction.
Things that were hidden,
But always there.
Suddenly appear.
And the depth,
The fullness of the tree or landscape,
Partner.
Problem.
And feel like something completely new.
So next time,
Maybe give it a flip.
Set your viewfinder to opposite.
And see what you find.
