Jane Stilwell

A lifetime of experiences, a brain she didn't fully understand, and so much to share. From growing up as a natural child in a foster family to working as a houseparent in a residential treatment facility, advocating for children in foster care as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), and spending 20 years as a labor and postpartum doula and childbirth educator, Jane's life has taken her down some pretty interesting paths. Along the way, she also managed operations for a staffing agency. And through much of it, she was navigating life as an undiagnosed woman with ADHD. She's learned a lot about caring for people, showing up when life gets messy, and figuring things out as she goes. She's also collected more than a few stories about the wonderfully ridiculous things that happen when you're simply trying to get through an ordinary day with an extraordinary amount of activity going on in your head. This is a place to share those stories, recognize ourselves in each other, swap the tips and tricks that actually help, and remind one another that we're not alone. No judgment, no pressure to have it all figured out. Just real life, real brains, and a little laughter along the way.

For the past few months I have been going outside every morning to get early am sun exposure, about 20 min each am, no phone till after. As we now move into autumn and winter, I’m not sure I’ll be out there in the cold NY mornings, but I’ll try to find a sunny spot in the mornings still. I live for the ‘out-of-doors’ life. ☀️🌲🍃💨🐦‍⬛🦉

Great little quickie. I especially love the blow yourself a kiss…I’m doing this everyday now on. I am not formally diagnosed ADHD. I recognized in 2019 after a job switch that I was likely an adult onset ADHD. Once realized I began to notice that I likely have had ADHD much longer than I was aware. What I just considered a great capacity to multitask, which as a nurse I was extremely proud of… I am now trying to become aware of the necessity to not multitask, which I find extremely difficult to do. SO, I am joyous to be following along here and learning what I don’t understand and suggestions and practices to better assist me now days. Much gratitude 🙏🦋

What a beautiful track - a great reminder to step outside, even for a few moments to connect with nature. You’re voice was so lovely too as you offered the invitation. 🙏 Thank you. Warmest wishes Debra

This was so relatable in many ways! I like the idea of drawing the little squares, to self-regulate amount of sharings / comments during a meeting ⬜✅⬜⬜✍🏼

Everyone should listen to this. It’s important to know that the people we don’t understand may have a brain that is wired differently
