Hello and welcome.
For this meditation.
Take a comfortable seat.
Allow your spine to lengthen naturally.
Let your breathing settle into its own rhythm.
Today,
We will explore identity.
Not to destroy it but to lose them is.
Bring to mind a simple description of yourself.
Perhaps I am a teacher.
I am a parent.
I am an artist.
I am successful.
I am struggling.
Choose only one.
Hold it gently in awareness.
Notice how familiar it feels.
Notice how quickly the mind organizes itself around this idea.
Now,
Imagine placing that identity in front of you.
As if it were an object.
Something you can observe.
Notice that the observer and the identity are not the same thing.
The identity is being seen.
Which means it cannot be the whole of you.
Let the label become lighter.
Less solid.
More transparent.
Like mist.
Like a costume hanging on a wall.
Now imagine that it dissolves completely.
For a few moments,
There is no need to define yourself.
No role,
No title,
No explanation.
Just presence.
Notice what appears.
Perhaps freedom,
Perhaps a certainty,
Perhaps a resistance.
Allow all of it.
There is no correct experience.
Rest here.
Breathe in.
Aware.
Open Now,
Slowly consider this.
If you were not limited to a single identity.
What becomes possible.
What new action could emerge.
What conversation?
What choice?
What direction?
Let one possibility arise naturally.
Do not force it.
Just notice it.
Now,
Begin returning.
You may still use your roles.
You may still use your names.
You may still participate fully in life.
But no,
They're tools,
Not prisons.
Take a deep breath in.
And a slow breath out.
Feel your body.
Feel the room.
When you are ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Welcome back.
Thanks for sharing your practice with me.
Go well,
In health and peace,
And carry this sense of possibility with you.
