Hello and welcome.
I'm Dr.
Hilary Talbot,
And I'm so honored to be with you in this perfect,
Precious moment,
One of the most profound and powerful of your entire life.
The day you get to meet your baby.
Whether you're listening to this in the final weeks of pregnancy,
In early labor at home,
Or right in the thick of it,
You are exactly where you're supposed to be.
What we're going to do together is simple.
I'm going to offer you words to anchor you.
Affirmations and reframes to return to when the waves get big.
You don't have to think,
You don't have to do anything except breathe.
And receive.
Your body already knows what to do.
It was made for this.
And I'll be right here with you every step of the way.
I also want to offer you that at any point,
If your brain starts to spiral,
Thinking these affirmations aren't true,
Or if you notice a subtle tightening in your body when it's not a contraction as you're saying these affirmations.
That can be a signal that your subconscious doesn't quite believe the words that we're offering it.
A simple stepping stone thought like,
I'm working on believing,
Added to the beginning of each of these affirmations.
Can do wonders to get to the place where your subconscious freely accepts these affirmations as true and wise.
So let's begin.
We're going to dive right in to the obvious element of birth.
Which is pain.
Now you could absolutely reframe the word pain into discomfort and notice if that makes your body feel any lighter or less rigid.
We can apply distinct meaning to the word pain and let it be an acronym for things we want to remember.
In this beautiful space where you will bring your baby earthside.
What if the P in pain stood for purposeful?
This labor pain has a purpose,
And I will meet my little one very soon.
What if A stood for anticipated?
Labor pain is coming.
And I have prepared for it.
What if I stood for intermittent?
Contractions are never continuous.
Like a wave,
They come and go.
So take a cleansing breath.
Let it go with the breath.
Long,
Purposeful exhales where we release any discomfort.
What if N stood for normal?
Yes,
It's hard.
But it's normal.
Focus on what I need to do.
To work with and meet my baby.
Purposeful.
Anticipate it.
Intermittent.
Normal.
Purposeful.
Anticipated.
Intermittent.
Normal.
I relax and my baby relaxes with me.
As I breathe deeply.
I feel calm.
With each exhale.
I relax and my baby relaxes with me.
I breathe deeply and feel calm.
My baby,
Trust me and I trust this entire process.
My baby trusts me,
And I trust this entire process.
I am relaxed and happy that my baby is finally coming.

That my baby is finally here.
I am fierce,
But flexible.

I let go of control and trust the process.
