Psalm 91 is a testimony and psalm of trust in God that also exhorts and encourages others to trust God’s protection and security. It is a testimony of what God has chosen to do on occasion in the past, an assurance of what He is altogether able to do today, and a beautiful literary portrait of His awesome omnipotent capability for the future.

A Psalm of Meditation Psalm 91 From the King James Version and from the Message Bible He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord,

He is my refuge and my fortress,

My God in Him will I trust.

Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,

And from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with His feathers,

And under His wings shalt thou trust.

His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night,

Nor for the arrow that flyeth by day,

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness,

Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at thy side,

And ten thousand at thy right hand,

But it shall not come nigh thee.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see The reward of the wicked,

Because thou hast made the Lord which is my refuge,

Even the Most High thy habitation.

There shall no evil befall thee,

Neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

For He shall give His angels charge over thee,

To keep thee in all thy ways.

They shall bear thee up in their hands,

Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder,

The young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

Because He hath set His love upon me,

Therefore will I deliver Him.

I will set Him on high,

Because He hath known my name.

He shall call upon me,

And I will answer Him.

I will be with Him in trouble.

I will deliver Him and honor Him.

With long life will I satisfy Him,

And show Him my salvation.

You who sit down in the High God's presence,

Spend the night in Shaddai's shadow.

Say this,

God,

You are my refuge.

I trust in You and I am safe.

That's right.

He rescues you from hidden traps,

Shields you from deadly hazards.

His huge,

Outstretched arms,

Protect you under them,

You are perfectly safe.

His arms fend off all harm.

Fear nothing,

Not wild wolves in the night,

Not flying arrows in the day,

Not disease that prowls through the darkness,

Not disaster that erupts at high noon.

Even though others succumb all around,

Drop like flies right and left,

No harm will even graze you.

You'll stand untouched,

Watch it all from a distance,

Watch the wicked turn into corpses.

Yes,

Because God is your refuge,

The High God your very own home.

Evil can't get close to you,

Harm can't get through the door.

He ordered his angels To guard you wherever you go.

If you stumble,

They'll catch you.

Their job is to keep you from falling.

You'll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,

And kick young lions and serpents from the path.

If you'll hold on to me for dear life,

Says God,

I'll get you out of any trouble.

I'll give you the best of care.

If you'll only get to know and trust me,

Call me and I'll answer.

Be at your side in bad times.

I'll rescue you,

Then throw you a party.

I'll give you a long life,

Give you a long drink of salvation.
