Welcome.
My name is Zil Okujere.
During this session,
I will be guiding you through a beautiful,
Simple mantra known as Hugh,
H-U.
It is pronounced like the name Hugh,
H-U-G-H.
The Hugh is known by many names.
Some call it the Hugh Mantra.
Others call it the Hugh Song,
The Hugh Chant,
Or simply the Hugh Mantra Meditation.
But no matter the name,
It is a vibration of love and spiritual connection.
Hugh is an ancient name for the divine.
It is a sound of love.
We sing it to spiritualize our consciousness,
To uplift the heart,
To quiet the mind,
And to open our awareness to something greater.
Anyone can sing Hugh.
It is a universal prayer.
It is a love song to God.
Now,
Let's begin by getting comfortable.
Find a space where you can sit peacefully.
Sit in a position that is comfortable for you.
You can sit on a chair,
Or you can sit on the floor.
Just be comfortable.
Now,
Take a deep breath and relax.
Close your eyes gently,
If you like.
Take a few deep breaths in and out.
Let your shoulders and neck soften and relax.
Feel yourself grounded.
Release any weight you may be carrying.
Allow your mind to settle and your heart to open.
Feel your entire body relaxed and calm.
We will be chanting Hugh for about five minutes.
After five minutes,
We will gently let the chant fade into silence,
And then enter into silent meditation.
When you are ready,
Gently place your attention on the spot between your eyebrows.
This area in between your eyebrows is often called the third eye,
Or the spiritual eye.
Gently place your attention there throughout this exercise.
We will begin chanting Hugh softly on each out breath.
For example,
You breathe in and on exhale you chant Hugh.
You breathe in again and chant Hugh.
Let the sound be soft,
Like a whisper of love from soul.
Sustain it gently,
Then breathe in again and continue.
Please,
Don't be concerned if you are pronouncing Hugh correctly,
Or whether you have a good singing voice.
Don't be concerned about that.
Simply sing to the divine from the heart as best as you can.
Let's continue for the next few minutes chanting Hugh together.
In the background,
You will be hearing an audio of a group Hugh chant.
Begin chanting along with the group.
Sustain Hugh softly.
After about five minutes,
Gently let the chant fade into silence.
Now,
Let's begin.
We enter into silent meditation.
Feel the vibration of the Hugh in your heart and around you.
Allow any thoughts or feelings that arise to simply pass through.
This is a time to listen,
To receive,
To be.
When you hear a soft bell,
It is time to gently end the silence.
Thank you for being here and singing this beautiful love song to God.
May the peace and love awakened through the Hugh continue to bless your life and those around you.
The Hugh is typically practiced for about 10 to 20 minutes,
Twice a day,
In the morning and before going to bed at night.
Of course,
You can sing Hugh anytime.
Feel free to carry this practice into your daily life.
Anytime you need clarity,
Comfort or connection,
Simply sit and sing Hugh quietly to yourself.
May love be with you always.
