Hello there,
Good morning.
I'm really happy we get these few minutes together before your day begins.
Take just a moment to notice how you're feeling now.
And there's no right answer,
Whatever your feeling is okay.
Maybe your tummy feels a little fluttery or your mind is already busy with thoughts of today.
It's okay.
We're not trying to fix it.
We're going to breathe through it together.
Settle into your seat.
Feel it holding you up.
And you don't have to do anything except be here with me.
First,
Let's try a fun breath.
This one is called balloon breath.
Picture a balloon in your belly.
Breathe in slowly through your nose and imagine that balloon filling up.
Bigger.
Bigger.
And now let it out slowly through your mouth like the balloon is gently deflating.
Let's do it again.
Fill up the balloon.
And let all the air out.
One more time,
Nice and slow.
In and out.
Good.
Your body just got a little message that it's safe to slow down.
Now let's do something that helps anxiety loosen its grip.
Gratitude.
Not because we have to pretend everything is perfect,
But because gratitude and worry can't take up all the same space at once.
So when we make room for one,
The other gets a little smaller.
So let's count down from 5.
And find one thing you're grateful for at each number.
Take your time.
Five.
Something about your home you're grateful for.
4.
Someone in your life who cares about you.
3.
Something about your own body,
Maybe your legs that carry you,
Your hands that color,
Or your voice.
2.
Something small that happened recently that made you smile.
And one.
Something about today.
Even something tiny,
That you're grateful is coming.
Nice.
However that felt,
You just gave your brain a little rest from worry.
And now a reminder.
Anxiety is allowed to show up today.
It doesn't mean anything is wrong.
It just means your brain is trying to protect you.
Even when it doesn't need to.
And when it shows up,
You get to remind it who's actually in charge.
So let's say this together.
Anxiety is a visitor.
It doesn't get to move in.
Anxiety is a visitor.
It doesn't get to move in.
And here's another phrase you can repeat during your day.
I can feel nervous and still be brave.
I can feel nervous and still be brave.
Because both can be true.
And before we finish,
Let's find something we can look forward to today.
Big or small.
Maybe it's a class you like,
Something fun you get to do,
A friend to see,
Something fun for lunch.
Or the right home after school.
Take a moment.
What is it you can look forward to?
Keep that little light with you today.
You're grateful.
You're ready.
You are loved exactly as you are.
Feelings and all.
Let's take a deep breath in together.
And out.
Maybe we can talk again tomorrow.
Now go have a wonderful day.
