The five senses exercise.

This exercise brings yourself into the present moment.

You will wake up your ability to hear,

See,

Smell,

Taste,

And feel what is happening around you.

By practicing this exercise regularly,

You will feel more relaxed and more able to pay attention to other people.

In this exercise,

You will pay attention to each of your five senses and report three things you notice.

Let's start.

The five senses exercise has five steps.

Step one.

Notice what you hear right now.

Name three things you hear.

Say them out loud.

I hear.

And now a second thing.

I hear.

And now a third thing.

I hear.

Good.

Now we turn to our eyes.

Second step.

Notice what you see around you right now.

Name three things you see.

Say them out loud.

I see.

That's one.

Now another.

I see.

That's a second.

And another.

I see.

Good.

Those were three things you see.

Let's go to step three.

Your sense of smell.

Notice and say what you smell right now.

Name three things you smell.

Say them out loud.

I smell.

Name something you smell.

Now something else.

I smell.

And something else.

I smell.

Good.

Now step four.

Notice and say what you taste right now.

Name three things you taste.

Say them out loud.

I taste.

Now something else.

I taste.

And something else.

I taste.

Now step five.

Notice and say what you touch or feel right now.

Name three things you can touch or feel.

Say them out loud.

I am touching.

And now something else.

I feel.

And something else.

I am touching.

Good.
