Being human seems often like a continuous test of strength and endurance.

Are we capable of withstanding the onslaught?

Are we flexible enough to bend?

Strong enough to not break?

We can never truly know,

Unless we have endured the storms of life to witness their passing.

Find a place that you can feel safe enough to let go of your body and mind in this moment.

Close your eyes,

Or take a relaxed gaze.

Breathe deeply,

At a pace that's most comfortable for you.

Take this time to relax.

Let go for just a moment.

The most important thing you can do right now is to allow yourself to relax,

However much you can.

Tune into your body.

Inhale deeply,

Into the center of your being.

Feel your breath,

Strong and steady,

As it moves through your very core.

In this moment of rest,

You have the ability to move into that core.

Let your breath pull you inside.

The wind may be raging around your body.

Raindrops flung so violently,

They feel as though they may pierce your skin.

Unpredictable gusts may threaten to break you,

Forcing you to crouch down,

Fold over yourself,

Gripping onto whatever you can find to resist being blown away.

Sometimes the sky is so dark that it seems to steal the light away from the day.

Inhale deeply now,

Reclaiming just this one breath from the wind.

Pull that breath down into the deepest reserves of your being.

Allow your next breath to usher you inwards,

Through the tunnel within your form.

You will find there a clear cylinder of calm within the storm,

A place of peace encased within your body.

Imagine yourself stepping into this place,

This translucent tube of respite.

From inside your core,

You can make out the thunderous roar of the storm,

But it is a distant rage unfolding out there.

You find yourself now removed from its violence.

In your inner cocoon of safety,

You exist now within the eye of the storm.

At the very center of your being,

There is a place where the wind can't touch,

Its own power pulling the chaos away from itself.

In your core is an ever-present place of stillness.

The quiet of your innermost self is so pervasive,

You are now fully immersed,

Floating weightless in the realm of silence.

You can watch the gale forces from the safety of this place,

A retreat that can never be ravaged by the roaring winds of light.

Shake off the rain and the tears that have fallen upon the surface of your skin.

Peel away your soaking cold clothes,

Feeling the warm stillness within the centered place you have found.

Stand naked,

Strong and safe in the dark serenity of your inner self.

Take a deep breath in and feel yourself surrounded by the vacuum of your being.

All around your outsides the storm may still rage,

But you find within this calm core a single bright candle,

The flame burning strong in your inner stillness.

This flame is your spirit,

Its wick is plunged deeply into your human vessel.

It is fed by the infinite reserve of fuel that is your soul.

Breathe deeply from this place of stillness.

Watch as your spirit's flame becomes bigger with each breath.

Notice how your inhales and exhales transmute the angry winds as they push through the tunnels of your body,

Ever calmer and more protected as the air moves deeper and deeper inside you.

Notice how your breath mixes with your inner reserves.

Notice the flame of your spirit growing brighter now as you feed it from your soul with deep calming breaths.

Bring your face closer to your flame,

Your eyes close in relief.

Feel your warm spirit's fire dance upon your face,

Kissing your closed eyelids with its radiating light.

From here you can allow the worst of the storm to pass.

From here you can watch its path from safety.

You may find the outer pieces of your being have been torn away,

Scattered about in its wake.

You may find that all that is left is your spirit,

But also find solace in this truth.

It always exists within your inner eye.

It is only within the contrast of the raging darkness that you can truly experience the light of your spirit.

It is only in those moments when we are most fearful that we can be brave,

And our inner eye only appears with raging storms.

Only through those times when all else is stripped away can you begin to know the essence of your soul.

It is your spirit that withstands.

It is your soul that creates the eye.

And it is only through this darkness that you can experience the true light of your spirit,

A spirit fed by the infinite fuel that is your unbreakable soul.

In this very moment you may be hunkered down,

But this storm will run its course,

And even within the devastation,

Your true essence will remain.

These storms are gifts,

But we can never know how strong we truly are without them.
