Have you ever noticed how life is constantly changing?
Some days we feel energetic,
Motivated and everything seems to flow.
Other days we feel tired,
Stressed or overwhelmed and we wonder what's gone wrong?
But what if nothing has gone wrong?
I recently spoke about the yin and the yang of life,
The idea that opposites don't compete with each other,
They work together.
We can't have day without night,
Activity without rest,
Or challenge without growth.
Balance isn't about feeling happy all the time.
It's about making room for all of life experiences.
When we're feeling good,
We often want to hold onto that feeling forever.
When we're struggling,
We just naturally want it to end as quickly as possible.
But both states are temporary.
Everything changes.
Think about the ocean.
The tide comes in and then it goes out.
We don't stand on the beach expecting the tide to stay high forever.
We simply accept that that is how the ocean works.
And our minds and emotions aren't much different.
There'll be times when life asks us to push forward and there'll be times when it asks us to slow down.
And neither is better than the other.
One of the biggest lessons mindfulness and meditation has taught me is that balance isn't something that we find once and we keep forever.
It's something that we can return to over and over and over again.
Sometimes balance might mean going for a run or a walk,
And sometimes it means staying home and resting.
Sometimes balance means speaking,
And sometimes it means simply listening.
The key is learning to notice what this moment is asking of us rather than what we think we should be doing.
For the next minute or so,
I invite you to simply pause.
Take a slow,
Comfortable breath in.
And gently breathe out.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Notice your feeling,
That you feel,
Feel your body being supported.
Notice any sounds around you.
Without trying to change anything at all,
To simply become aware of this moment.
And ask yourself quietly,
What do I need right now?
Like right now,
Not tomorrow,
Not next week,
But right now.
Without forcing an answer,
Just simply allow the question to settle and see what comes.
And remember that balance isn't about getting everything perfect.
It's about learning to move with life instead of constantly pushing against it.
Some days will feel more yin and some days will feel more yang,
And both belong.
Both have something to teach us.
Thank you for spending these few minutes with me today.
Take care of yourself.
And have a fantastic day.
