Money worries can be incredibly difficult to switch off,
And sometimes those worries are completely understandable.
There might be more bills to pay,
Unexpected expenses,
Work uncertainty,
Or simply the feeling that there never seems to be quite enough.
Meditation isn't going to make any of those problems disappear,
But sometimes there's a difference between dealing with a financial problem and thinking about that problem over and over again.
Especially when there's nothing we can do about it in this particular moment.
This meditation is simply an opportunity to put that problem down for a few minutes and come back to it later.
But for now,
You don't need to solve anything.
Just find yourself a comfortable position.
And when you're ready,
We'll begin.
Just allow your body to settle.
Into position of ease.
Settle into whatever's supporting you.
Notice your body becoming rested.
Where it is.
You might like to close your eyes.
Or if you prefer,
Soften your gaze.
The next few minutes,
There's nowhere else you need to be.
Nothing you need to work out.
Nothing you need to fix.
Just being present.
That's enough.
And begin by noticing your breathing.
Notice your breath coming in your breath going out.
Notice the physical contact between your body and whatever.
It is supporting you.
Really tune in to that contact.
Feel your feet on the floor.
Notice the position of your hands.
Notice any sounds.
Noticing his smells.
Can you taste anything?
And now,
Perhaps acknowledge what's been on your mind.
Without needing to go looking for anything.
But if thoughts about money are already there,
Just simply notice them.
Maybe it's a bill.
Something coming up.
Something unexpected.
Oh.
Uncertainty.
About your future.
In these thoughts when they appear.
What do you notice in your body?
Perhaps a tightness in your chest.
A feeling in your stomach.
Tension in your shoulders or jaw.
Maybe restlessness.
Or perhaps you don't notice anything at all.
Whatever you notice is okay.
See if you can become curious about those sensations that you feel.
Without pushing them aside.
Holding them down.
Or trying to make them a certain way.
Simply feeling them as they are.
Observing.
And whenever your mind starts moving into the future,
What if this happens?
What if I can't afford that?
How am I going to manage this?
And remember,
They're just thoughts.
Just notice where your mind has gone.
And gently come back to what is happening right now.
Just come back to your feet,
Feeling your feet on the floor.
That's what's happening right now.
Feeling the support underneath you.
That is what's happening right now.
Notice your breathing.
That is what's happening right now.
Right now you don't need to have every answer.
Right now you don't need to solve next week,
Next month or next year.
Just this breath and this moment.
Thoughts may come back,
That's okay.
You don't need to fight with them.
Now this a thought.
And come back to your body.
Breathing in.
Breathing out.
Feeling your body supported.
Perhaps quietly reminding yourself.
I can come back to this later.
I don't have to solve everything right now.
Money is just a tool in life.
But money is not lie.
My breath is my life.
Our present moment.
Money will always come and go.
Our breath is always here.
And spend another few moments simply sitting here.
Allowing thoughts to come and go in their own way.
Each time returning to your breath.
Your body.
In this moment.
And as this meditation comes to an end.
Begin to notice the room around you once more.
Notice any sounds.
When it's to taste.
Notice what you can smell.
Notice the feeling of your body.
Maybe move your fingers and toes around.
And when you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes,
Just taking in the light.
Money worries may still be there after this meditation and that's okay.
Meditation isn't about pretending that real life problems don't exist.
There may be practical things that need to be done.
Conversations that need to happen.
Or certain decisions that need to be made.
But worrying about something every minute of the day doesn't necessarily bring us any closer to solving it.
Sometimes we can acknowledge what's happening.
Put it down temporarily.
And give our mind and body just that little bit of space.
Our brains are constantly solving things.
Over and over again.
Even when we let it go.
The problem can still be there without needing to carry it all with you every single moment of your life.
Thank you for taking this time for yourself today.
For taking this time to meditate with me.
Have a fantastic day.
